  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm collecting quotes to put one up on my door (i live in dorm) a day... here are some that I've come across...

"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool." - William Shakespeare

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." - Helen Keller

Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Don’t ever let yourself get so busy that you miss those little but important extras in life--the beauty of a day…the smile of a friend…the serenity of a quiet moment alone. For it is often life’s smallest pleasures and gentlest joys make the biggest and most lasting difference.

People can alter their lives by altering their attitudes. - William James
