I am on another board and we are trying to discuss the Nicene Creed-kinda a common ground-anyway, is this something you believe in, or am I way off base?

Thanx!

Not to get too nit picky, but there is a difference between believing in, and agreeing with, the Creed. The post that explained the difference between spiritual/water baptism was a great post, (and absolutely the ONLY way the baptism statement in the Creed can be reconciled to the teachings of the Bible) and the post that entailed some of the other sticking points was pretty efficient. When the Scriptures differ from the creed, go with the scriptures.

As pertaining Christian Forums, I understand the Creed serves as a point of reference to define, for functional purposes of the forum, What is a Christian? I am thinking that the Creed may not be the best standard, but since I can't suggest a better one, I'm hesitant to gripe too much. I'm pretty ignorant regarding the Creed in general, so I'm wondering where did it come from? I thought it was the Nicene council, and wasn't that Roman Catholic? I'm off to look on the internet re:the history behind the Creed, so at least I will learn something today ;)

No creed but Christ!

and yes, I pass the CF test, from the FAQ:
We do not expect members who want to post in the "Christians Only" forums to accept or affirm the actual Creed - we expect them to agree to its contents only which are based on the Bible.

Nowhere in the Bible does it state that one must affirm the Nicene, Apostles, Anthanasian, or any other creed to be saved...from the FAQ:
1.4 You will not directly state or otherwise imply that another member is not a Christian.
