hi i was wondering if anyone can help me find out anything about my family
these r the names i wanted info about
skowron
dehn or deihn not sure how it's spelled my opa was an orphan and he doesn't remember how to spell his mother's maiden name
milewski
milauskus or something close to that
thanks for any info you can give me or direct me towards.
i know my opa fought in WWII in germany at age 16 he was in the frontlines in a tank and was wounded in the first six months of fighting by a grenade. his one brother also died and he doesn't know where his other brother arthur is we were told he changed his name and to dehn or deihn or dein something along those lines and moved back to germany he would be in his 80's now.
i also know that my oma's last name was skowron i know stories about her life in germany and poland and coming to america in WWII when the russians wrecked there farm and fighting was coming to close to them. any info you can give me is much appreciated.

i try to find out something, but can't promise anything. have you tried to contact the german embassy. maybe they know some institutions you can contact.

no i'm not sure how to find any info i've been focusing on genealogy websites and so on but it's hard considering my grandparents spelling isn't the greatest even when it comes to family last names. any help or direction is greatly appreciated.

do your grandparents know where they lived here in germany or in poland coz then you can contact the city? they have books where all citizens are listed. all dead people, all living people, sometimes if you're lucky they can tell you were a person moved too. not the correct adress but the city or town so you can go and ask there. but keep in mind it was war at that time so many dates got lost. but maybe you have luck and they can help you.
would help if they know where they lived here before.
