Exodus 24:10 And they saw the God of Israel, and beneath His feet was like a fashioning of sapphire pavement and like the very heavens for pureness. But against the elect of the Israelites He did not send forth His hand, and they beheld God and ate and drank.

This doesn't seem to be Jesus, because he didn't have human form yet. So, does God have physical features or not? And is it any great blow against Christian belief if God does have hands, feet and eyes?

Not as such, but scripture does use anthropomophic word-pictures from time to time to describe him.

Weird question.

Hi Nooj, sure there are many examples of "God" taking on human form and communicating with humans. For example in Genesis, God is said to be walking in the garden in the cool of the day. Also the Bible mentions the "Angel of the Lord" and sometimes this "angel" seems to be God himself. While not universally accepted, a significant number of bible students believe when God takes human form to communicate with man, it is God the Son, the same "person" who became flesh per John 1:14.

So God is spirit, which means non-physical, but He can take on a physical appearance, such as a man, or a fire, or a dove.

Christian belief includes God being able to take on physical appearance, but also includes the understanding that many descriptions of God as having eyes or hands, etc are figurative, because God is spirit.

Why would the writers do that though?
Why wouldn't they?

One can only begin to talk about something that's beyond our concrete perception by invoking analogies, likenesses, ...

If we try to talk about God using only terms that are strictly and literally precise we end up not being able to say anything at all.

Perhaps it would be better to say nothing at all. The alternative is to give him human features which are necessarily inaccurate. It makes knowing what God is really like harder to 'know'.

I asked that question myself those days before I was a christian. I read a book from goodseed.com. It was clear to explain that Jesus was the very GOD whom God made everything on earth together. It will be good if you visit the site and get the PDF version of the book the evangelising committee has opened for free.

Bible Study, Evangelism Tools, Outreach and Discipleship Resources for Small Group Bible Study

Choose the book - By this Name & The Prophets have spoken.

It was referring to Christ from the Old Testament. and you will understand God is great, and He can choose to come as man to be with us, and thus sent Jesus, His Son down on earth to be with us, and redeem us. so nothing is impossible for a Loving God towards mankind.

Any talk of God is necessarly inaccurate. Indeed most talk about pretty much anything is inaccurate, full of figures of speech, analogies and the like.
