"It seems their notion of salvation is very much "works" based."

When you dig down through all the funny terminology, pageantry, sacramental language, and beauracracy, Catholics DO believe in salvation by faith in the shed Blood of Jesus, and DO state that works are NOT Salvific - but it's all pretty buried in their theological writings.

BUT the Catholic concept of salvation is a MIXTURE of what evangelicals would call "Salvation", AND "Sanctification" which is where the "Works" come into play. Evangelicals tend to see "Salvation" as something that "HAPPENS" at a point in time, and while Catholics see it more as a "Process of growing in grace".

Oh and Catholics don't "Speak Protestant" worth a nickle, but use some of the same terminology - with TOTALLY DIFFERENT meanings. Same goes for Evangelicals.

Hey, jump in and give answers!
The forum rules say that we are to respect each other, not shield ourselves from one another!
I promise not to spit on you if you don't spit on me, ok?

"Does the Catholic Church worship Mary?"

They SAY they don't, and "Officially" they "don't" - but they do. Simple as that.

"Has Mary always played this large of a role in the Catholic Church?"

She's been "In Development" for many years as the heresy builds on itself.

The Orthodox tend to have a MORE reasonable attitude toward her - only ascribing "perpetual virginity", and "sinlessness" - which is, of course, the START of the errors.

Romanists have her "Immaculately conceived" (Without original sin), totally sinless during her entire life, Perpetually virgin, AND "Assumed into heaven", the "Heavenly function" of mediatrix, "Queen of heaven" and they're WORKING on giving her the title of CO-Redemptorix with Jesus. Different denominations within Catholicism (They call 'em "Orders") place more or less emphasis on Marian things.

"How do Catholics sidestep the fact that the Bible tells us that Jesus had many brothers and sisters?"

They play "Word games" - Joseph was an old widower, and other kids were his from an earlier marriage, or the kids were not biological children - just cousins - etc. there are all sorts of fantasies/rationalizations.

"How is this possible when two of His younger brothers were Apostles?"

Rome has built their "Tradition" walls HIGH and STRONG, and there are ALL SORTS of things that are taught as "Holy Tradition", that are nothing but folklore, and superstition. Rome won't be listening to ANYBODY any time soon, though. The BEST course is NEVER argue theology with a Romanist - because you're get NOWHERE with intellectual reasoning.

Give them YOUR testimony of what the Lord has done FOR YOU, and tell them what you believe - and LEAVE IT THERE!!!!! The Holy Spirit can punch a hole in their beliefs easily, and lead 'em to the truth. He's the ONLY one who can.

This is why we wanted the OP to come to our board.

THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN was Astarte, the goddess of the planet Venus, called Ishtar by the Assyrians and Babylonians and Ashtoreth by the Phoenicans and other canaanites.
She was reguarded as the sister or consort of Baal, the storm god. together they were seen as symbolizing generative powers of nature...

THE queen of heaven is DENOUNCED in the old testament as ABOMINABLE in the sight of JEHOVAH.

LETS see if MARY of the CATHOLIC CHURCH stacks up to the queens above....

they offered cakes to them... WE HAVE A MATCH
they gave drink offerings... WE HAVE A MATCH
they burned incense to them... WE HAVE A MATCH

DING DING DING MARY IS THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN!!!!!!!

see Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:17-25

PRACTICE both in israel and judah as a result, GOD sent babylon down on them....

why send the man to the lion when he can get the correct answer right here!!!!!

BTW, JESUS IS NOT the effeminate sissy that the CATHOLIC CHURCH has made Him out to be.... sometime around 300a.d. the church started out making Jesus have long hair a EFFEMINATE build, small hands and looking so effeminate that Im surprised he can get any sort of beard going.... JESUS BATTLED DEMONS AND IS NOT THE SISSY THE CHURCH HAS MADE HIM TO BE....

we know (ATLEAST FROM THE KingjamesBIBLE that in 1COR 6:9 that effeminate men WILL NOT SEE HEAVEN.... somehow this has been removed from some bibles, I know for a fact the DEMONIC NEW KING JAMES VERSION has removed it..... I guess if it's removed your no longer guilty of such crime... and punishment......

Paul tells us in 1COR 11:14 that it is a SHAME FOR A MAN TO HAVE LONG HAIR...

JESUS WASN'T A SHAME!!!!!! seeing this would you then remove the picture of jesus with long hair or keep him at shame......

YES VIRGINIA THERE'S TRUTH HERE TOO!!!!

To Catholics, church doctrine and tradition is the same as scripture. So where church doctrine and tradition conflicts with scripture they always go with what the church and pope says.

AND THERE you have it in a nutshell.... I had went to the catholic part of this forum and simply wrote that only JESUS could forgive sins.... THE TRUTH and I got written up over such.... so its fair game when someone brings this up in MY so-called section on the queen of heaven...

So many different denominations. Is there one that is right and the rest are wrong? Or does God use each one to reach different people. He didnt create us all the same. No two people learn or understand things exactly the same. Some people need to hear it this way....and some only understand it when its givin that way.

Do Catholics love Jesus Christ? Do all Christian denominations believe in the prophesies and fullfilment of those prophesies through Christ? We all love Jesus and believe that His blood shed on the cross was out of love for us sinners right?

Amen?

Hi Rino,

If you'd like those questions answered, I'd suggest you bring them to OBOB so that you get clear and accurate answers. :) Unfortunately, there is a lot of misunderstanding about Catholics and Mary and you will get wrong answers if you post your questions elsewhere. Just saying. Its up to you. God bless. :)

DONT WORRY, I got him the RIGHT answers....... to come here and say you'll get the wrong answers is a way of saying the RIGHT answer are found next to the adders hole....

I WAS JUST replying to this person who said you'd get the wrong answers here..... just you have a totally different bible, no matter the books that are the same, its still totally different and since the man asking the question wasnt catholic and I assume that OBOB is.... since your catholic bible IS DIFFERENT then how can this work for him?....

The difference in Biblical Canon has nothing to do with this now.

ANY CHURCH who says you have to belong to their church to obtain salvation is not the right one..... that's for sure, because this says that CHRIST'S BLOOD WASN'T QUITE ENOUGH TO GET YOU THERE... WITHOUT MAN'S AIDE..

Please accept my apology, I only thought the OP's questions could be handled without teaching or debate.
The rules do state questions and fellowship are allowed which led me to believe if someone asked a specific question about another denomiation someone from that denomination could answer as long as the spitting was held to a minimum.
I did not mean any disrespect toward CF nor did I mean to stir up the trouble this seems to have.
Again, I am sorry for this trouble.

and YES... YES IT DOES.... your bible will give him different answer than mine....

No it won't. You need to look into it a little further, but you won't cause you've already made up your mind about Catholicism. So don't bother.

To the OP:

Again, I repeat: if you want to know what Catholics really believe, I suggest you visit the Catholic forum. You are STILL getting a lot of wrong answers here - including about our Bible.

I'll bow out for now. I'm not allowed to debate here - or defend my faith. Bye.

I'm not officially a Catholic yet, and I didn't want to share my opinion because I don't feel I give due justice to the subject, but i'll share anyway. In the book "The way of divine Love" Jesus came down in the 1920's and had a Saint write down everything he told her, he talked about his infinite love and mercy, allowed the Devil to take the saint to hell various times and in this book(which really happened, although a private revelation the Pope at the time said in his opinion it was 100% authentic, if you read it you'll know it's true, i've wrote a much longer post on it here before i'll try and find) anyway in this book Jesus says himself Mary is the queen of heaven, she definitely heard this saints prayers and appeared to her numerous times.

Now I know you guys aren't catholic, but let me explain this to you how I understand it, logically. We all know that The Lords love is infinite, as is his mercy, we know this because he's said so himself and has shown it throughout the bible. In the bible the Lord blessed many people, from soloman to everyone else, all of whom are wretched sinners like you and me. Now God The Father chose a woman(Mary) to bare his Son, The Son of God, think about how incredible and important that is...clearly The Lord wouldn't just choose anyone. In the book The Way Of Divine Love Jesus say she was choosen because of how uh, sorry I can't remember the exact words but basically how amazing and good she was, she was as close to sinless as a human can be I believe. Not only that but The Lord said he loved her more than angels because she, unlike angels had to endure all the miseries of life and still was amazing in her goodness etc...(sorry I can't remember the beautiful exact words he used) Now you have to ask yourself if the Lord blessed wretched sinners the way he did, how do you think he would bless The Mother he loves so much? The Mother who's brought much glory to his name. I assure you, she IS the queen of heaven, and she absolutely without a doubt deserves your utmost respect and appreciation, and by doing so you not only honor her but you honor The Lord as well. I seen a video of a priest who died and was before Jesus for judgement and Jesus after looking over his life sentenced him to hell, however Mary was there as well and asked her son to give him graces etc...and another chance, so Jesus agreed and sent him back to earth.

when you pray to saints, you're praying so they'll intercede for you to The Lord. If you remember in the Old Testament this existed, with people bringing their burnt offerings to the levites(who were the only ones allowed in the tabernacle) to burn them on their behalf to The Lord. I pray we don't allow pride or hate cloud of views or our hearts, God Bless you all

This was interesting... And I wont speak on most, I would just like to quote something you said, and maybe I'm misunderstanding it. But you said, " The Mother who's brought much glory to his name ". This is God; we're talking about, who brings glory to his own name. He glorifies himself through us, Yes?
Another, you stated; " when you pray to saints, you're praying so they'll intercede for you to The Lord. If you remember in the Old Testament this existed, with people bringing their burnt offerings to the levites (who were the only ones allowed in the tabernacle) to burn them on their behalf to The Lord".
Yes, that is true... But again, "old testament". I'm not saying the old testament is not to be thrown out and forgotten; cause its not. Its just as important as the new testament, that's why it's there. But when Christ was crucified. He entered that most holy place for us " tabernacle", Matt. 27:51-52; says that, that curtain was TORN DOWN! so that we do not need someone to go to him for us. So each of us, who was baptized and born again and confessed with our mouths; Jesus is Lord and made him the lord of our life's. Would not need someone to have a relationship with him for us. We can go to him. We can pray to him and We can ask for forgiveness of our own sins, after all. It's our own walk with God and nobody can do it for us... Hebrews 9:3-14, explains the tabernacle and also Hebrews 6:19, talks about Christ being the ultimate sacrifice and holy of holy, most high priest, entered that curtain before us. Amen

*WALK in the WORD*

the word I should have used was flame.

You can discuss why you believe a belief that Mary is the Queen of Heaven is wrong, but we all need to be careful not to flame those that do believe it. My statement was a reminder.
