In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Both of mine have been really talkative about everything. They also like to chew on hair, mine and even sometimes guests. I have NO idea what that is about. I'm not sure if that is inherent in their breed. The cats I live with now don't do that (they belong to my roommate).

Siamese can be very wonderful cats. They were breed initially to be guard cats and protect the house and family. Maybe this is why they tend to form strong bonds with their owners. They also can be very independent and yes, most are talkers. Loud and clear. They have a lot of personality and I love them. :)

Siamese cats usually have a very distinctive meow.. and they do have MAJOR personality.. they do let you know when they want attention...and cry for you. If she's crying a lot when she's alone you might need to help her develop an attachment to a toy. My Siamese literally had a "teddy" that she curled up with when we weren't home. It was from my bed.. I guess it smelled like me? Siamese cats are unusually attached to their people.. they seem more demanding of people attention than most cats. Get her a scratching post so you can train her to it..

Chewing on my hair is what my oldest cat does. (not a siamese.. I haven't had a
Siamese since I was a teenager) She's grooming me.. I suppose it's a big honor since she wants to take care of me but ewwwww! I'm trying to break her of the habit.. but she sneaks up on me while I sleep.

thanks for the info wonderingone. When we leave her alone i think she crys and throws her fit for a few mins and then goes on with whatever and she will find something to do or sleep she sleeps alot or sleeps when i go to sleep. i think she wares her self out so much. now when we all come home she is wild and tearing around the house it is soo funny she will run from one room to another and go sliding on the kitchen floor. I don't think she will ever need cat nip i think she is really hyper enough and i read somewhere that they do stay active their whole lives even when they reach adulthood. The scarching post sounds like a great idea though. she likes to climb on us all the time and it does get annoying. do u know why they make that noise for. she makes it in different ways. like if she spots something out like she has seen a grasshopper and she was even doing that at him. My brother is curious as to why she does that. and one werid thing about her i cant even give her a name lol she doesnt really respond to any name but only to voice. is that common?

I had a cat that was part siamese and something that made her almost blue. She was VERY unfriendly towards strangers and little kids, she only had a small group of people that she would let them pet her,she also licked you before she bit you.

Wow, every Siamese I ever knew was Schizo! You could be petting it and it is purring away and then in a flash try to bite you! I have never liked this breed and they are extremely loud and noisy. I have also had owners tell me they bounce off the walls when they are young! So IMHO they are very mean, untrustworthy, destructive and noisy, is how I see them. I have never met one or even heard of one with a consistantly sweet nature,so they must have very "permissive type" owners,LOL! Has anyone ever had experience with a really"sweet" Siamese cat?

I used to own a siamese. He'd make some weird cackling noise whenever he sees a bird on the balcony. I'm guessing that has to do with his hunting instinct. I never really researched it. His tail would swish to and fro when he does this. I've read that this means that he's excited (in a hunter-prey sorta way, not excited-happy like a dog).

I've trained my cat to come whenever I call his name. The thing is, I have to call him with a certain tone... it's almost like singing his name. I'd use the same tone whenever I call him. I think... he responds even when I don't use his name... as long as I say it in the same tone.

My cat is not siamese, but I wanted to say that Biddy does this "cackleing" when she has spotted something she wants to ambush. I have never learned the reason behind this though. And Biddy also likes to smell my hair and then start pulling on it. OUCH.

I never owned a Siamese, but they are very beautiful. I do not know much, but do know that they are vocal and tempermental. But there are always exceptions to the rules! How old is your Siamese?

Oh and I think Biddy knows her name, but usually if I want her to come I click my tongue and she comes running. That is how I always call cats. They always seem to respond to it. That and with my fingers pointing down, thumb against the palm, I will wiggle my fingers and that gets them to come to you also. May want to try saying her name while giving her a treat and then scratch her ears or something to praise her. This reminds me that my cats always came running if I shook the treat can. Hee hee, those cats can't trick a trickster! LOL

O.O Are you serious? Both of my siamese cats have been absolute dears. They never bite me or anyone. They are loud and noisy, but it's usually only in the morning when they want food, when the dog annoys them, or when a kid annoys them. They are not destructive in the least nor mean. Heck, one is docile enough to deal with my 6 year old neice who likes to dress him up. I absolutely adore their breed. Mine even waits for me to come home by sitting in my chair. The other loved to sit on my computer screen near me. They are wonderful.

My mother has kept Siamese for 30 years now and has had several. Her current two are brother and sister and are about a year old. The boy is the softest sweetest thing and the girl is playful and entusiastic, but not nasty in any way. Siamese have great personalities as far as I can see, they're more like dogs and more vocal than other cats. And like dogs, they need some training or they'll end up ruling the house...
Not that any of my mother's cats have been like that..
;)

The hair chewing isn't restricted to Siamese, I had a mackeral tabby who liked to chew my hair.
