  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

our church of about 2000 members does.........and i'm not sure why peopel think that there always has to be an interpretor.....we use tongues as part of our worship service when everyone who is filled prays all at once . now when someone just stands up in the service and starts speaking in tongues he is either escorted out or an interpretor stands and waits till he is finished but we believe that when you use tongues you are speaking directly to God so what better way to use them than when you worship. We aren't all yelling out but most all of us do it...........

Here's where it comes from:

"What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. If anyone speaks in a tongue, two--or at the most three--should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God." - 1 Cor 14:26-28

You must have misunderstood what I was saying because This^^^ is the type of tongues we speak in TO OURSELVES ...........when you do it that way you don't need an interpretor:)

I think what Bizzle is getting at is that "to himself" in that verse means "silently." If all 2000 people were really speaking silently, you wouldn't know whether they were speaking or not at all, because you wouldn't hear 'em.

I've been to a number of non-denominational's, some spoke in tongues and some did not. However, I have not been in a non-denominational church yet that used the gift of tongues correctly. Sounds like those churches exist but they are far and few between. Boy, things certainly have not changed much since the days of Corinth, have they? :(

How many of you guys belong to a nondenom church that speaks in tounges. I'm just curious because most of the ones that I've encountered do, but I've heard that that there are more that don't.
Our "non-denominational" can not speak in tongues although a big number of "churches" attending a gathering do. ;) :D
