  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thats a bit of a dodgy comparison.
Both would be illegal.

Except gun violence is not illegal. So analogy fail.
The violence people speak of is almost always criminal. They don't like police shootouts, but they accept them.
Oh, wait is this sarcasm?

Simple solution: everyone folds their clothes. :p

If you want to reduce abortions, then you should be in favor of allowing women to have better access to contraception. It would reduce the abortion rate by quite a bit.
I believe most people have access to every type of birth control they want. I assume you mean provide free birth control to everyone that wants it. Which social program should we cut to make this possible? We have no more to spend, so we must cut somewhere to give more here. NO matter what the politiicans say, there is no free ride. (I guess that could be taken a different way.)
Obamacare should help, everyone will have insurance(yea, right), so they should have better options for birth control(unless Catholic provider, see below)
Should we provide the expensive birth control to every woman also, not just to those that need the special one?
It always seems to come back around to costing tax payers more to pay for peoples mistakes or immorality.
----I do support morality based sex education(not the republican type of abstinence or nothing, but encouraging moral judgements into sex ed.)

Or are you speaking of the Catholic medical buildings, restricting birth control? If you seek medical assistance from a Catholic hospital you should already know they don't do abortions and don't offer birth control(they do offer the same drugs for other reasons though.).

btw I believe abortion should be very limited, but allowed. Ie illegal in most cases past the first trimester, only the most extreme of cases past 2nd, since its faster and safer to remove the fetus intact, then it is to remove piece by piece.

The violence people speak of is almost always criminal.

We need a new term: CGV

Criminal Gun Violence.

To differentiate betwixt it and...oh, let's call it "Legitimate Gun Violence".

If making guns illegal is the answer to gun crimes, then why don't they do that with cocaine, heroine, meth and crack?

(insert innocent whistling .wav here)

Well, cocaine and crack are the same thing, and they aren't entirely illegal. In fact, opiates, such as heroin, aren't totally illegal either. A lot of hard drugs aren't as "illegal" as you think.

Guns are objects that will exist regardless, abortion is a service.
People can have illegal abortions. You can even abort the baby yourself based on certain things you choose to do.

I wouldn't have mentioned anything if you hadn't said anything. :D

Obamacare should help, everyone will have insurance(yea, right),

It's always been very apparent that Obamacare wasn't going to cover everyone. It would just extend insurance to quite a few people who previously would've been denied.

so they should have better options for birth control(unless Catholic provider, see below)

If it prevents abortion or unintended pregnancy, yes.

It always seems to come back around to costing tax payers more to pay for peoples mistakes or immorality.

What about married couples who don't want to have children yet? Would they be considered immoral?

----I do support morality based sex education(not the republican type of abstinence or nothing, but encouraging moral judgements into sex ed.)

Well sure.
