• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Can a person from any denomination join this group if they believe your statement or certain denominations?

Thanks

Hi BA2 and welcome to CC,

There is no denominational requirement. All you need to do is agree with the statement of beliefs.

Absolutely!

We are proponents of Christian basics, which is different from the Fundamentalist forum which -- although in principle open to Christians regardless of denomination -- does have a specific list of doctrinal beliefs to be agreed to. We are merely Christians who are Conservative in our views.

I like these answers, amen!!

We aren't divisive - we just ask that people BE CHRISTIANS to join this area!
It keeps alot of infighting from happening becuz we share the same fundamental beliefs that are central to Christianity.
The other stuff can be politely discussed and even disagreed on - disagreement doesnt' mean disunity. But it does when you disagree on the central tenets that make us Christians (as per scripture).

You just have to agree in principles with the principles of conservative Christianity- which are so vague they are virtually meaningless. You just have to be a Christian against homosexual acts and abortion basically.
This is soooo mistaken. You may want to re-read the criteria and decide again whether to be a member. :(

Welcome - we are from all churches and denominations and get along surprisingly well. We are the true ecumenical movement - not those who would combine all churches into one worldwide church!

Now, sign in and get posting!

As you know well, those two items are only part of our agreed-upon statement and hardly can be considered what you said--that all one has to do is be a Christian of some sort and be against homosexual relations and abortion. As for the rest of what we stand for (the Nicene Creed, for example, and the authority of the Bible) you would have to be quite unfamiliar with Christianity to say honestly what you did, that these are meaningless and vague.

Because you can be against both homosexuality and abortion and still not be a CC.
And you can also be against both without regarding them as high priority issues, or as federal issues. I take a strict constitutionalist state's rights position on both. I understand that they're hot-button issues with social conservatives, and there are a lot of social conservatives here. However, I am not a social conservative, but rather a libertarian conservative, or more specifically a strict construction constitutionalist and a neolibertarian.

This is not a Political Conservative forum. This is a Christian Conservative forum. I think this post would be more apropos in the PoliCon forum.

Political conservatism happens here too, and there's a lot of overlap between political and theological conservatives. I happen to be both, as probably are most members here. But to address the theological side, I concur that abortion is sinful, and very seriously so. But how do we resolve it politically? Perhaps, as you suggest, that's best left to the other forum. And, frankly, I don't think homosexuality should have been included in the statement at all... but it was, probably because of its current domestic political importance. I can sign on to it because I think it probably is sinful theologically, and accordingly I'm against my church performing same sex marriages, but I don't think it's an especially heinous or important sin. I would regard malicious gossip as far worse. To put it in a pop culture context, I see a lot more, and more serious, sinning on Everybody Loves Raymond than I do on Sex in the City or Will and Grace.

If a pastor is going to be my spiritual leader and provider of my spiritual food, I CAN ASSURE YOU I'D LEAVE SUCH A CHURCH & leader who supports and promotes those marrages.
That's open & blatant rebellion to God's word - promotion of sin within the church by the leadership. :swoon:

And yes some sins ARE much more heinous than others - unless you think it's equally heinous to steal a pencil from work as it is to kidnap & molest a little child?
Or Hitler's genocide is about equivalent to letting your dog poop on a strangers lawn...:help:

While all sin is sin, it's another thing to openly promote it as "GOOD" (woe to those who call evil good, and good evil") while proclaiming to be an Elder in the church of God.
I'll shut up now, but this is real telling.
