• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Because the world is unfair and throughout the history of time women usually get most of the unfair part. Anyways I think anybody that sleeps around has low self esteem and I don't think too highly of them.

I guess you're probably right in general, but since the opposite of the OP is also true, in this case it's not any more fair for guys. If you are a guy and a virgin, the world says you are a freak and not a "real man."

I've honestly never seen any of these attitudes in the church though.

I think it depends on the crowd you're surrounded by. Not always are men regarded highly for having sex before marriage or even being promiscuous in their actions. And vice versa for women as well. Usually, people who have some degree of moral standing will not approve of praising a person for having sex before marriage but merely except it. I have been treated differently for not only being a Christian but for remaing a virgin until marriage while at college. But this is something I am not ashamed of and have also gained the respect of many non-Christians who see my devotion and love for the Lord through my actions and decisions. :)

I have something I have never quite understood.

Why is it that men are viewed highly if they have had sex outside of marriage, yet women are viewed as trash if they have had sex outside of marriage?

I think this may have been the case in secular society in the past, but not today. Now, most of them think that people who abstain until they're married and are faithful once wed are boring and unattractive - regardless of gender. Whereas I hope and believe that the standard among Christians has always been and still is that any kind of sexual activity, or lust, is wrong unless it's within marriage - again, the same whether the sinner is male or female.

It isn't boring and unattractive to me.
But it is doing the right thing.
Doing the will for the Lord.
As in the end, it will pay off big time.
For us to wait until we are married.
