Question..
I apologize if anything I say here may come off the wrong way. FOr I enjoy others who truly do delight in repping others because they truly wish to support others.
Nonethelss, I've noticed something from specific others that has been perplexing me for awhile...and I felt it was necessary to addresss it here.
When reps are given to a posting (or a string of postings) by one individual and yet there's no real description of what they got out of a post---is that to be considered offensive? For many times, it gives off the impression that reps are simply given out as a means to an end that the person repping is trying to get at...namely, achieving a goal of having a number of reps given out rather than really giving encouragement/support of something that was noted by a poster.
I'm not saying this to say others doing so are not sincere--but it can come off the wrong way. In example, when looking at one's rep page, not all of the rep references are kept due to how new reps push the older ones down...and when 5 to 10 to 15 or more are just given out (sometimes, seemingly at random), it pushes away those refernces you'd like to go down to.
Has anyone else here experienced the same? Or am I crazy in what I'm thinking? For in all realness, there've been a couple of times I considered either saying something publically--or, if there was no response given, simply reporting it/asking it to be removed. Not saying reps aren't appreciated---but at times, there can be a bit of insincerity that can come with them if one sees they're given out just because someone wants to be either be a "rep king" or "rep queen" and gives them out for their own benefit rather than truly encouraging because they were encouraged/learned something.
