  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As far as I know, there's no way for one of us to edit an account and put the pet into adoption. We'd have to literally change the password, go into the account, and put the pet up for adoption. Because of that, that's why I suggested that the pet info simply be transferred over to a foster account and then put into the adoption center. The blessings that are earned could then be blessed back to the original owner.
so basically you mean to go into the pet identification information and edit the owner to a new account that we have the password for - such as the cffosterangel accounts that are not currently being used? and from there we would put them into day care for adoptin?

the last question then would be about the blessings you said would go back to the owner, however we here at pet forums have used well over 500 blessings for each of these that have been here for 1 year or more, and so I would suggest that the adoption blessings be added back into pet forums donations - if that would be acceptable?

I was out of town and missed all of this some how until now (oh no). I'm so glad I made it back in time. OK, my 2 cents is: Just remember, if this ministry wasn't here feeding those abandoned pets and keeping them alive in the first place, those owners wouldn't still have them anyway. They all would have died of starvation. So, in my opinion they broke their contract of keeping a pet when they stopped feeding it. There is something listed there when you are making a pet that tells you that it needs to be feed and cared for regularly or otherwise put in daycare. It's not like they weren't forewarned.

Sorry, I just realized my defensive nature just reared its ugly head. But these are our babies and anyone who causes harm to my family I automatically defend against. I am the team leader for the "newly created" pets. I'm sad to say we are already having these problems. Personally I am trying to make a point to keep these members informed of how to care for their pets (while they are still online) and let them know we are all here to help and support them in any way we can. We would love to be able to break the horrific cycle of never ending abandoned pets. My problem is, they're online, they just don't feed them, ever. LOL

Please let me know if you need anything or have something you need for me to do. I'd be glad to help.

Wow ~ what timing! I didn't even know this thread existed, and I just now sent the following e-mail to CFFosterAngel4 about this same topic (the Lord moves in mysterious ways! Maybe HE even wants His little ones cared for!   ):

Hi!

As I was feeding my little abandoned buggers just now, I thought of something...

Is there any reason we keep abandoned pets... abandoned?

What I mean is ~ the reason they get placed into the A-room is because their owners took off & left them for at least 30 days.

Just as an idea ~ why not keep those little guys in the A-room for say -- 4 to 6 weeks -- to make sure the owners aren't coming back. Then after they are truly & clearly abandoned, place them into the adoption room for say -- 200 blessings?

That way, with more pets available for adoption, that will prevent so many brand new pets from being created, and will keep the abandoned room more clear for the "brand new abandoned" pets. Plus, after they get adopted, they'll have an actual home with an owner who will love them again ~~ they won't have to share their attention with 15 other pets on an abandoned list anymore!!!!

Is this possible to do? Hope so!!

AngelDove97 ~ first THANK YOU for your help on this....that letter looks awesome!

You did raise one concern before that I believe you said you have heard from admin ~~ that is -- it is felt that we can't take the pets away even if the owners have been gone for months, or even a year. But realistically, if we didn't have this program in place ~ the only thing they would come back to at all is.... a dead pet!

Even going on that point ~ it is not right to NOT put this re-adoption program into place because a few people here & there might come back & even REMEMBER that they had a pet that they abandoned.

As you can see, the A-room is getting bigger & bigger & (you get the point). A LOT of resources (donated volunteer time, donated blessings, etc.) are going into keeping these little abandoned buggers alive. Let's give these little guys a chance at a NEW loving home ~ not just keep them in a "big waiting room" in case their (not so loving) owners decide to maybe come back sometime next year, and probably even forgot during that time that the little guy existed!

Too many resources are being used for those possible instances. Please allow those who know how to change the codes so these pets can have a 2nd chance with someone who will love them, and the A-room resources can get some (much needed!) relief!

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Sorry everyone--- I haven't been around for the past couple of days (Busy with Lent stuff, maybe joining a new church, and went to the library--- so I've been off reading books :)) so this hasn't been sent out yet.

I'm going to send out the letter today---- please feel welcome to send your own thoughts and concerns about this issue to LeeD, mnphysicist, and Constance. It's really important that they hear from the people who actually work in this ministry--- not the middle person. Just send out one pm---don't swamp their overly swamped inboxes :D (I'll get evil stares from them otherwise lol)

Thanks :)

so basically you mean to go into the pet identification information and edit the owner to a new account that we have the password for - such as the cffosterangel accounts that are not currently being used? and from there we would put them into day care for adoptin?

No I mean this:
---A Staff member who has the access to can go to this special member profile that gives all the information/data about the account. It lists the pet number, name, stats, etc in it.
---Find the pet stats in that account and remove the stats (just delete them) for the pet---- THE PET IS STILL SAFE :)
---Input those pet stats into a foster account that the pet workers have access to, so they can put the pet up for adoption.

Is that a bit clearer? :)

the last question then would be about the blessings you said would go back to the owner, however we here at pet forums have used well over 500 blessings for each of these that have been here for 1 year or more, and so I would suggest that the adoption blessings be added back into pet forums donations - if that would be acceptable?

I'm looking at it this way--- while the member who hasn't been feeding their pets for over a year might not deserve the pet, they still are technically the owner of the pet. I think the very least thing we can do is give them back the blessings that they get from us putting their pet up for adoption. And the pet ministry members know that should the ministry EVER need any blessings to help care for their pets, they just have to let a Staff member know and we'll give them blessings. I know many of you use the blessings right out of your pocket, but I'm hoping by giving them blessings for their pet that it might cause less issues.

I asked one of the Advisors a few days ago what they thought of the ideas--- it looks good. :) Not sure when this would be able to be coded and started, but hopefully we'll hear back from them soon. (I'll keep poking them :p)
