Like I said earlier. Your argument is with Jesus Christ, not me. I think what has happened is that you've become confused here with the two positions of church authority, Pastor and Deacon and the general sense of Christians as witnesses etc.

Missed this earlier.

No my argument isn't with Christ at all. And like others, you are attempting to make this issue solely about women as pastors. Please see my comments above.

Your comments were not appropriate and did not speak to how pastors and deacons respond to women. Perhaps how "some" pastors and deacons have responded to women somewhere in the world.

No, BT, sadly they are not inappropriate and are about American Churches. Women IN America who felt let down by the help they got from their church after domestic abuse and rape.

And again, this is not about the office of Pastor or Deacon as a few of you are trying to to limit the discussion to.

I wonder if folks honestly READ what is posted.

Free,
I have no problem with my gender. There is no underlining meaning to why I am not in the front line with your crusade. I am sorry for not talking about womans role in the church as far as teaching is concerned. I have been addressing Lambs post and got caught up in the moment. I think if you would look back and see your first response to my first post about women being pastors that you might think otherwise about me having a problem. I have not been upset at all by this debate.

I am not buying any of that GEL. This is not the only thread that I have seen you post only negative things about women. And rather than respond to any point I made, you simply ask, "Are you a feminist?" - which shows you didn't even bother to read a word of what I wrote.

I am not a victim.
You made yourself out as one with your own words. I already quoted them.
But then you flung out the accusation on others.

I am just a bible believing Christian woman, that is it.
And so am I, GEL.
And people who disagree with you are not automaticaly "self-centered". You were wrong in that accusation that you directed at another.

I accept my husbands leadership role in the home and my pastor's leadership role in the church.
You came on here with bullets Free with your first response to me. BULL is what you said with venom in reply to my post. Why would i not say, don't shoot me? You got all mad because of what I posted.
First, I was on this thread before ever using the word "bull" in a response to you. Yep, I said bull.....but no, I wasn't trying to "shoot" you. And you are assuming the venom, GEL. Before I ever said the word, "Bull" you wrote:

"I will be excommunicated from the women on here but the way I see it, some woman will manupulate ANYTHING to be right."

And then you went on with that nonsense about Sarah manipulating Abraham and Adam being manipulated by Eve as if they had no IQ of their own, no relationship with God of their own and had not made their own choices.

Don't complain about receiving a response like "bull" when you already made yourself out as a victim with "I will be excommunicated ..."

We are both in the wrong. This thread is not about women being pastors and its not about women being abused. its about our biblical roles in the church.

My comments were right in-line with what had been written earlier in this thread. The interpretation of the words about women in the church has led to a sad history of women being expected to stick with those that abuse them. The quotes I used were words I have actually heard from 'Christians' about women who had sufffered abuse. And I have read studies that show a significant percentage of women felt let down by their church's leadership when they had suffered rape and abuse. Rather than complain about that, I wish those men in leadership would ask why. THAT would be the Christian thing to do.

Good night!

I just feel bad that people are so intrenched in the American way of doing church that they can't be open to the whole of scripture on the subject. Why can't God's whole word be the basis for a belief? Why does an entire segment of the Christian population have to be ostracized because of three verses written by one man, badly interpreted without historical context, when the entirety of the Bible says something else altogether. It's sometimes discouraging to think that Americans are closed-minded on the basis of tradition rather than open to things of the Lord.

As for the comment that no woman had ever been appointed as a priest, truthfully, no men are appointed as priest anymore, either. The priestly way of doing religion is over, we all have equal access to God. If you and your church prefer not to have women in the pulpit at any time for any reason, that's up to you, but don't beat up people and churches who see from the whole of the Bible that women can serve as teachers and preachers--you look through a microscope and we look through a telescope, but we all see the same God.

I want to say I am appalled at the behavior here and how folks have been speaking to each other. Is this how the body of Christ dwells in love with one another? Is this the word of your testimony?

*** 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

We have a wide range of differing views about minutia here in the BA forum and we MUST dwell in respect for one another. That person that you are railing against has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They are your brother and your sister. Points of theology are not going to make them unsaved. Rather than spend all eternity making up for harsh words I suggest sending out some PMs now.
