Ok I'm going to come back in here with a question.

Is it not commonly belived Moses wrote Genesis?
No. It is not. It is commonly believed by fundamentalists that Moses wrote Genesis, because fundamentalists typically confuse traditional ascribing with literal authorship.

Didn't Moses grow up in Egypt?
Therefore not relevant.

Did the Egyptians use a base 10 numbering system?
Well that's where the confusion would come in, had Moses written Genesis (which he didn't). He'd not have understood the Babylonian numbering system and that's why he got it wrong.

And lastly is the Hebrew numbering system not base 10?
Hardly the point. Our numbering system is base 10 and we propogate the mathematical error once made. Just as the Hebrew system would have done. I have no idea, by the way, whether either system was base 10.

I am not allowed to post link yet to show you the web page refering to a base 10 Hebrew system.[/QUOTE]
