  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Would you date/marry a girl who couldn't cook, clean, or do anything "domestic" around the house and refuses to learn? (You would have to do all the cooking/cleaning or hire a maid.)

The reason I ask is because one of my best friends broke up with his fiance a while back because she didn't even know how to turn on a stove and never cleaned anything around the house (her mom did it all for her when she lived at home).

Seriously? Wow... well, if she's unwilling to learn, then yeah I think she's being a bit selfish and uncompromising; I'd be glad to help her out, or even get her lessons. If she's horrible at the little things, imagine what it would be like with her over big things...

I guess to expand on that, I'm sitting here eating pizza, and thinking to myself, "Dang, I don't want to eat fast food, Chinese, or pizza for the rest of my life. I want a woman who can cook!"

:p

Seriously, cooking skills are important to me. I have had like FIVE homecooked meals this year lol.

Yeah she was unwilling to learn.

Also, does the fact that she was an aspiring model at the time change your opinion? (she's been in a music video and everything).

I don't know if some guys are willing to give a free pass to domestic responsibilities based on looks alone.

Not knowing how to is one thing. An unwillingness to learn is another
Not knowing wouldn't be a problem. The unwillingness to learn to help, it would become very, very problematic.

So to put that with your example above...it could very well lead to a breakup.

Let me help you--I can send you some recipes so you can make your own meals!

The same on the flip side would annoy me. A guy who can't do anything around the house is a guy doing less than his share of the work. :p

I'm willing to give pass to doing domestic chores...but help has to be given. Her body will not make up for her princess laziness.

Nope. Doesn't change my opinion of her at all, if I can get her then I can plenty of girls just like her with better social and domestic skills.

If she was a multi-millionaire and was guaranteed to die in a week.

Okay, so it's not enough that she's a trophy. She still has to know how to cook and clean, etc.

lol true dat yo.

so far the consensus is no, it doesn't matter how good looking a girl is, she needs to know how to cook and clean.

I was gonna go with the Frozen Meatball and French Fry platter, complete with Bottled Ketchup sauce. ;)
mmmm sounds yummy.

um, just a passing thought, but why'd he ask her to marry him if this was such a dealbreaker? surely he was aware of her lack of domestic skills and lack of willingness to learn said domestic skills
lawlz because people are stupid and don't think? He let it slide for a while because she is gorgeous.

She has to share the load of housework...just like I have to and no its not enough that she's a trophy. I don't even care if she's a trophy. As long as I'm 'Austin Powers' over her, that's good enough for me.

That's cool.

I think the same thing. After all, looks fade. But what if she was an absolutely horrible cook but really kept trying to get better at it?

I'll echo the other posters: there's a big, big difference between not knowing how and being unwilling to learn. Keeping the house clean and livable is a two-way street. When one person has to do it all, it's unfair and leads to resentment. And no offense to your friend, but it's kind of disrespectful to tell the other person they have to do it all.

I wouldn't blame a woman if she did the same, incidentally.
