The reason is that there is a lot of superstition in that book.
There is indeed a lot of superstition about the book of Revelation. But it is 100% false to claim that there is any superstition whatsoever in any portion of the Bible.

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The last few verses contain a curse.

.

.
There should be a lot of cursing for the way some Christians handle the content in the book.

Adding the book of Daniel to the book of Revelation, and you have a legion of end time variations. Though what surprises me is how strongly some churches, hold onto their interpretation. What is this fascination that people have with the end times?

My church actually brought up revelation a bit a few Sundays ago, but it seemed from the sermon that the pastor mainly found it applying to the times it was written

Kind of a shame. It's obviously future.

Hell JC.
I sometimes glance over other boards and this thread caught my eye.
Have you and/or others seen this news bit?.........
I view the fulfillment a bit differently, applying it to the holocaust in the 1st century........

Prophecies of Ezekiel 37
In a stunning and remarkable moment, Netanyahu also declared to the people of Europe and the world that the prophecies of Ezekiel 37 have been fulfilled.
The Holocaust, he said, represented the "dry bones" and "graves" of the Jewish people, and out of that horror the State of Israel was resurrected, just as the Lord said would happen through the Hebrew Prophet Ezekiel. Rarely has any world leader given a major address on an international stage declaring End Times prophecies from the Bible have come true. But that is exactly what Netanyahu did. - Joel Rosenberg

There is a promise in the bible that rings out almost louder than all the others. And that is
God's Promise to, in the End of Time, return the Jews to the very Homeland that they were driven out of in 70 AD by the Romans. All through Scripture it sounds out loud and clear:

NTEB: God's Prophetical Promise To Return The Jews To Israel

I though this was relevant for Christians to read as a part of fulfillment of Biblical Prophecy.

THE SYMBOLISM IN BOOK OF REVELATION

One man studied and found 348 allusions (not illusions, Light) in Revelation from the Old Testament. You see the similarity in wording and the context mirrored in Revelation and the particular Old Testament story, and immediately can recognize the reference source!
That's IF you know the bible well enough to even notice that.

95 of the 348 plain references used in Revelation as taken from the Old Testament are repeated in Revelation.
That makes about 250 Old Testament passages are cited. How many chapters are in Revelation? 22. That makes about TEN OLD TESTAMENT REFERENCES FOR EVERY CHAPTER!

EZEKIEL AND REVELATION PARALLEL

1. THRONE VISION - (Rev 4./Ezek 1).
2. THE BOOK (Rev 5/Ezek 2-3)
3. THE PLAGUES (Rev 6:1-8/Ezek 5).
4. Slain Beneath the Altar (Rev. 6:9-11/Ezek. 6)
5. WRATH OF GOD (Rev 6:12-17/Ezek 7).
6. SEAL ON SAINTS' FOREHEADS (Rev 7/Ezek 9)
7. COALS FROM ALTAR (Rev. 8/Ezek 10).
8. NO MORE DELAY (Rev. 10:1-7/Ezek 12).
9. EATING THE BOOK (Rev 10:8-11/Ezek. 2)
11. MEASURING THE TEMPLE (Rev. 11:1-2/Ezek. 40-43)
11. JERUSALEM AND SODOM (Rev. 11:8/Ezek 16)
12. CUP OF WRATH (Rev. 14/Ezek. 23).
13. VINE OF THE LAND (Rev. 14:18-20/Ezek 15)
14. GREAT HARLOT (Rev 17-18/Ezek. 16, 23).
15. LAMENT OVER THE CITY (Rev. 18/Ezek 27)
16. SCAVENGER'S FEAST (Rev. 19/Ezek 39)
17. FIRST RESURRECTION (Rev 20:4-6/Ezek 37).
18 BATTLE WITH GOG AND MAGOG (Rev. 20:7-9/Ezek 38-39)
19. NEW JERUSALEM (Rev 21/Ezek 40-48)

12 POINTS THAT REFUTE FUTURISM

The following points seal the issue, in my opinion:

Rob god? If your still offering tithing then me and you do not worship the same God. My God (jesus) was the final sacrifice, the final offering . There is nothing left for us to offer except our faith in something being complete. And finish. Through him. But you tell me how
Malachi goes for you . and how much you feel jesus through that.

I think a lot of it is future too, although Revelation isn't something I've studied extensively. They didn't go too indepth into it.

Revelation is definitely....confusing. There are SO many theories on it and so many of them make sense. I do think the Holocaust had a major part of history that was a turning point. Exactly how, I'm not sure yet.
