• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay, everyone says that by you not being happy with your body, you're insulting God. It's kind of like you're taking his gift for granted. I don't eat very much though because I've lost a lot of weight by not doing that and it helps me feel better about how I look. It's not that I'm not grateful with what God gave me. I think that's usually what plastic sugery's for. I just don't like what I've done with the body he gave me by putting on so much weight. Besides, I don't see what the big deal is since I am definitely in control of my eating habits. I am perfectly capable of eating continuously and I do sometimes, I just choose not to eat most of the time. Is this a bad point of view?

well, it sounds like you do have respect for the body that God gave you, and that is always good, but it does also sound like you enjoy losing the weight, and, people always tend to say that they are in control at first, I know i always thought i was, but, you shouldn't cut out food, eat healthily, like, cut out crisps and chocolate, that would do exactly the same, only healthier, you would have the energy you need, and lose any weight that is desired as long as it is healthy for you to do so, without making you tired, and hopefully without leading to an ED, which skipping meals like that, can so easily do!
God bless.

Agreed. God is more concerned that you're healthy enough to enjoy life and live fully, than how much you weigh or how beautiful you are. Put things in that will give you a good life years down the road. When you make mistakes (that you consider mistakes), forgive yourself and move on. Keep your body image your decision, and don't do thing just to avoid being insulted.

If you're feeling like it's hard to control the gain, take note to what you feel after you eat certain things. Some research has been done on food allergies, where you tend to overeat what you're allergic to.

A big problem, the MSG that gives snack foods their extreme flavors, is in most packaged products. It stimulates by irritating the taste buds, but also gets the lining of your mouth, throat, stomach, and on. This irritation makes you feel hungrier (and can lead to cancers, ulcers and other tissue problems). Look on packages for where it's listed in the ingredients (a little and the end, or smack in the middle) and for alternate names like "spices."

Another thing, the talk of the decade, carbs. Some people are more sensitive than others, and it can get them on a roll. You can get the impulse to eat because you just ate...if it was something that gave you a blood sugar rise and quick drop. Your body wants its energy level back. I get these worse in the morning. Make yourself eat protein, even if you're not in the mood. (Yes, Mom.)

Forgiving yourself is a big thing, and it sounds flaky, but we all need to work at that. God wants us to free ourselves of guilt and accept his grace. If we hang on, we are rejecting his love and free gift. He responds to faith more than goodness, and part of that faith is letting go of our own demands on ourselves, and allowing him to breathe his life through us.

He doesn't want us depressed about ourselves, and we don't live very powerful lives when we're focused on the past or our weaknesses. When we are weak, He is strong.

You are precious to Him!
