Question: Audio bibles?

Hi guys. I've been in the pentecostal church for a few years now and I love it. I'm currently reading the NIV bible and was wondering what a good audio bible is. I don't plan to replace my actual NIV bible with it, but I work full time delivering pizzas and have a CD player in my car. Well I don't like Christian radio because in my area they all want to talk about politics and hold a super duper right wing point of view. Now I don't take a left or right stance. Personally my views on how the country should be ran is a liberal standpoint, and my morals a right side stand point. Then it dawned on me. Hey I drive 40 hours a week. Why not get an Audio Bible! I mean all I think about at work is the lord because I want to go into the ministry one day and i'm getting rooted in the word daily with my highlighters! I was wondering if there are any anyone here would recommend. I have no idea which one is good or bad or so so or easy to understand. I know I want it to be

Good idea.

Dollar Tree, each item is a dollar, sometimes has The Bible on CD – one book per CD. So you could select which books you wanted to hear if you didn’t want to buy 66 Cd’s.

At one time Firefighters For Christ had audio Bible for free. MP3?

This site says you can download to burn to a CD Free Audio Bible Online

There were others on google – you’ll have to wade through the ones that say free, then want you to buy something to make it happen.

I personally listen to Inspired by The Bible Experience, which I think is the best out there. But if you don't care about getting a really nice version, you can download one for free one audio treasure.com. But if you like the acting and sound effects like I do, you might want to get the Bible Experience, it has all kinds of big name actors in it like Denzel Washington, Cuba Gooding Junior, Samuel L. Jackson and so on.

The James Earl Jones New Testament is really good. I wondered if it would be different since Earl was reading it that it might not be as anointed as others. It was great! Very anointed. The Word is the Word.

I was shopping at Mardels for a complete Bible and asked the Lord about it. The one I heard on the Net that was free was read too fast. I picked up the Alexander Scourby version and was looking to Jesus and the inward witness gave me the green light. I have really enjoyed it. Thanks for reminding me! I'm going to listen to it again.

The discs are CD audio, but you can rip them and tote them all around on a disc or two.

MANY years ago the American society for the Blind recorded the entire King James Bible on 16-2/3 R.P.M. long playing records. It was read by Alexander Scourby - and it WAS NEVER copyrighted. It's available here on the web, and there are many places that you can get it on CDs generally for the price of the CDs.

I don't personally think there's ever been a better recording produced.

I just bought the KJV on audio tape. It is awsome...it makes the bible come alive.

I've been thinking about getting an audio bible but the good ones that are like Ipod's are like 150-200$. You can find them at your local Christian book store

Chalk up another vote for Alexander Scourby ! He's the best, hands down!

I think Audio CD's are expensive, and too much trouble compared to MP3's.
Will your Car's CD player play MP3's burnt on to a CD? Some do.
If not, then MP3 players start at 10.00. I like the type with a flash drive and
use a AAA battery for power, instead of having to be recharged at a USB port.
Like this one. I got mine at Walgreens (without the speakers) for 10.00
It holds the entire Bible with room to spare:

Another good product is a DVD Bible, designed to be read and listened to on a TV.
It's not a lot of trouble to extrapolate the audio in MP3 or Audio CD format.
They sell for 10.00 - 20.00.
