  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

marezee, I never heard about it before this forum! I am certainly NOT naive. I spent quite a bit of time researching the risks of vaccines but interestingly I never came across this info. I wasn't looking for it either because who would ever consider that any vaccines would be created by such unethical means? Oddly enough, the pro-life community is quite silent on this issue as well.

So, since I believe abortion is evil and I have decided to not willingly take part in evil activities, I feel conflicted. I want my child to be fully protected but not via any evil methods. If we continue to allow this to occur as a society, then we are one step closer from justifiable murder of human beings.

Of course the actual fetus is not evil but by allowing these methods to occur, we are indirectly taking part in evil as well. This is only true when you know the truth. God will not hold you accountable when you did not know the truth.

All I can do for past vaxes that may have been cultured out of aborted fetuses is pray to God and ask to be cleansed from any indirect agreement to such heinous acts.

Here is a website that has the aborted fetal cell line info:
http://www.cogforlife.org/
http://www.cogforlife.org/fetalvaccines.htm

Vaccinations themselves are very controversial. The pro-life movement is not silent on this issue, however they have to tread carefully because the pharmaceutical companies are VERY strong lobbyists and hold a LOT of control over the medical community. Perhaps they feel they need to pick their battles...

Getting the chicken pox is (for a normal healthy child) no big deal. Same with Rubella, believe it or not. Also, there are homeopathic alternatives to traditional vaccinations.

Hep A is easily avoided by not having unprotected sex or sharing needles with drug users... or sharing straws with other kids. Some things are just rather common sense that we have to teach our kids.

In reality, you really don't *have* to do the Hepatitis shots at all.

Influenza is ""reccommended"", but for people with a family history of a weak immune system -- this vaccine is not at all reccommended... though the Pharma companies and many doctors are still pushing it.
My family GP back in the US has told everyone in my immediate family to "not ever" get this vaccine. Why? We have a weak immune system and it will further impair us. It's much better for us to just get the virus itself, fight it off for two weeks and come out better for it.

Chickenpox, same dealio. If I went back home and talked with the GP about it, I'm pretty sure he'd say with our history it's a pretty bad idea to even think about giving it to our little one, not just to protect him, but to protect both my DH and I, especially me since I had a light case of the chickenpox and am allergic to the antibiotics used to treat it... I could go either way --- get the chickenpox again (I had 10 spots mom says) or I could go all out and have shingles -- which for me is *really bad news*... moreso than most folks.

IMHO, knowing about aborted fetal cells or brain/lung matter (which is also controversial) from animals in vaccines is something we should be aware of. I mean, usually if we get any medication for our kids, we read the inserts inside and out, the back of the package, research online and THEN give it to our kids... why don't we do the same with vaccines?

I dunno- I don't tend to think childhood diseases are that big of a deal. Of course I don't want to see my littles ones sick and suffering, but I don't need to miss work and they don't need to miss school--so there's not that much to weigh in regards to my fear of Rubella & Chicken pox.

I feel that my children are not threatened in any way by Hep. A. If they want to engage in risky behaviour as adults- then they are also free to get themselves immunized.

I always make sure that we have a pediatrician who feels competent in treating/ counselling me in regards to childhood diseases-so I know what danger signs to look for that would be outside the parameters of "normal".

Re: whooping cough outbreaks--if vaccines confer immunity 100% of the time those outbreaks would be limited to the unvaccinated--since they are not limited to the unvaccinated it makes me question the claims of effective conference of immunity.

I do need to dig around in my email--because I am pretty sure that we are close to market for some non-fetal cell line vaccines for the aforementioned diseases.

That is not the case in recent years with more and more parents opting out of vaccinations.

Just this past year, in my area, there was a whooping cough (pertusis) outbreak.
I know vaccines are not the end all for all diseases. There are definite pros and cons. the US has all but erradicated polio because of vaccines. right?

I also agree with jgonz...you must research for yourself and decide based on your own family history and ethics.

My boys are vaccinated according to the pediatrician's schedule and they are all fine. I don't know of any vaccines that have aborted fetus cells in them. I've never heard that b4 this thread. perhaps i am naive.
Pertussis is still very common because the immunity wades off in the teen/adult years. That's why it's recommended to get a booster shot in the teens.
