Question about the properties of light

Is it spherical? Is it a theoretical point?
Is it a grouping of smaller little packets or descrete things?
Is the structure of the photon known?

What do you mean with structure? It is an unpartable particle. The frequency of the wave is related to the amount of energy it carries.

  Photons don't "look" like anything. They can't. How could you see one? Seeing something is percieving them. A photon doesn't have structure. It's a packet of energy with certain properties.

  The short answer: Mass is only entangled with momentum if you're approximating.

Unexplained and unexplanable from our current understanding is how I read it.

So is light the only thing that doesn't follow the "normal" laws of physics?

  No. Quite explainable. Einstein's formulas are what explained it. Light obeys all the normal laws of physics. Einstein just found that what we thought were the rules, weren't. They were just low energy, low-speed, low-mass versions.

  And there are many hints that Einstein's rules are the large scale version of the real rules.

If light drops to a lower frequency and loses energy, does it regain any when it speeds back up? Or does it speed back up, but stay at a lower frequency?

  If light loses energy, it drops in frequency but not speed. Speed is constant in a medium, regardless of frequency.

It is quite long, 12 pages.
I call it my General Unification Theory.
I wrote it up over the weekend.

   Offhand, no. But I'll ask a few questions. What does your 'general unification theory' predict for photons travelling near large masses? How does it explain it? Does your 'gut' handle normal optics? Does your 'gut' explain emission and absorbtion lines?

Not specifically, no. It is a general framework.

Actually, as for photons near a large mass, as in a black hole, yes it does.

  I asked what your theory predicted. And a "general theory", if it cannot make specific predictions, is pretty useless. It sounds like what you're saying is "I've made up something that sounds reasonable coherent".

   What you have is a WAG hypothesis. You should test it before calling it a theory.
