Do you think the people that fell on shallow dirt had their sins forgiven once and fell away or they never truly asked and weren't saved to begin with?
The first three soils were not saved. The first one is just like your common atheist who doesn’t believe. The second and third soils are those who appear to believe, but eventually walk away for various reasons. Only the fourth soil bore fruit manifold, and that’s the sign of a true believer.

Hi; there was never any root in them in the first place; the subsequent verses contain the Lord's explanation of the parable.

It's the seed that falls in good ground that is analogous to true believers in whom the seed germinates and takes root and bears fruit.

The real question seems to me is that you are asking 'am i truly saved?'

The answer is Jesus. Paul points out in Timothy that Jesus is the saviour of all people. However without faith in God's salvation we can't access our salvation fallen sinners. 1 Timothy 4:10.

So if you see that you have faith in Jesus Christ then you may know you are saved. However faith needs to conquer our whole heart and for some people this takes awhile. Some times as believers we live outside of faith and back in our old mature. Our old nature never learns, we have to learn to let it be - die to it - and hold in faith onto Christ and the salvation He has in store for us and grow our life in His Kingdom.

Salvation is a life long process where faith in Jesus grows to fill our whole life up in love service of and to Him.

Now a life in faith can become stagnant, then we are back to living in the old unredeemed nature again, however Jesus will always raise us up His Children, for where there is faith in us we are eternal. So if we walk in faith daily then daily we are saved and so grow into His Kingdom. If on the other hand we often walk out side of faith then those times we do we will get cut off by The Word on the last Day, for only our life in faith remains for that is eternal. Hebrews 4:12-13.

the people that fell on shallow dirt
I recall the earth was stony and they had no root. So, they never were rooted in Jesus. And our Apostle Paul prays for us to be "rooted and grounded in love", in Ephesians 3:17.

Plus, he says we need "faith working through love" > in Galatians 5:6.

So, I see how faith is not only believing information and claims, but faith has us living in God's own love . . . in sharing with one another as God's family.

But the people on stony ground were not rooted; so, also, they were not connected with one another in their common rooting in God's love. They were isolated, then, possibly, and they could have been worshiping their own independence, instead of denying themselves > Luke 9:23.

That is one of the pivotal questions in "OSAS vs. Arminianism." The answers given in this thread will be formulated accordingly.

Show me where the idea or better yet the word(s) "appear to believe" are in that parable

Yeah, I agree. I personally believe in the Perseverance of the saints. But I don't want to get into a debate. Just want to see everyone's answers.

... I didn't know I was THAT obvious. Thank you for your detailed reply.

Please find your Refuge in Jesus. Honest there is no more forgiving and more loveable person than He. He can restore you from your fall and get you back up going again. To love God and neighbour and to die to your selfish nature are the lessons you will learn with Him.

He is an awesome saviour be of very good courage.

I'm on that journey. I have trouble with "feeling" saved and trusting that God forgave me. I now have to just believe and trust and to heck with my feelings. I once thought I committed the unforgivable sin and thought I couldn't be forgiven even if I asked. I lived this way for ten years. Now I know that God forgives all who ask.

i know that your feelings will align to the choices you make. So yes don't let your feelings make the choices, but God's loving truth, for only then you are truly safe.

Peace

His Love is caring, providing, and sharing.
His Love always enjoys and protects good life.
His love rules even when bad life has being in us!

Hear Jesus call - 'Come join up with us all!
Leave whatever ties you down and be free
loving good life with all God's own to be.'

To the rest in your heart God's asks
how long will you tarry in the darkness?
Please leave such bad existence within.

For life must not, no never should, or would, or could,

I think that maybe it is possible for one person to be all of the soils described in those parables. I also believe that they may be speaking of more than just individuals' experiences.

Good question. I do not believe that they were saved to begin with.

This is a fine example how peoples beliefs (what they have been taught, from some group), that interferes when the Bible presents a clear teaching on a topic.
So that’s what’s happening with you?

Again show me from the Bible where every believer bears fruit. Because The soil parable shows they do not.
Don't all believers bear some kind of fruit..even if it's just faith?
