  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm thinking about getting my hair permed tomorrow, but I have a question for you gals who may have more wisdom in this area than me

I have a dinner out planned for this Saturaday night and my one huge fear is that I will still have that notorius 'perm stink' then. I really can't remember how long I had to endure the 'perm stink' last time I had my hair permed a few years ago.

So can any of you wonderful people help me out and give me a general idea of what I should expect? Should I put off getting my hair permed for a few weeks or is it likely that the smell would be gone by Saturday?

I remember way back in the day when I got a perm, my stylist told me to rinse my hair with tomato juice to neutralize the odor. Are you getting a spiral perm? If so, I would highly recommend some do-it-yourself temporary curls before a permanent. Once you get it done your hair will be slightly altered, even if you were to brush it out or have it professionally relaxed. Good luck :)

thanks for the advice :)

I've actually decided to put off getting my perm for awhile until after the holidays. I have bangs and I'm a little worried it might look strange to have curly hair with straight bangs so I'm thinking I'll wait until I've decided I'm bored with my bangs and let them grow out a bit.

Wow, it's been a loooong time since I've gotten a perm. Anyway, usually just a good couple of washes will get the smell out. I'm not sure if the "you can't wash your hair for 2 days after a perm" rule still applies, though.
