Methodist's don't have confession in the same sense that Catholics do. Meaning, that a priest hasn't been given the power to absolve someone of their sins. Methodists believe that a sincere heart asking the Lord for forgiveness will receive it and no priest is nessesary.

However, in general, Methodists are pretty accomadating. If your friend wants to speak to someone in confidence, to receive spiritual guidance, I'm sure a Methodist pastor can help. She can use him/her as a sounding board, for spiritual guidance, counseling. As for the anonymity (sp?) of the meeting, I'm sure they can work something out. Perhaps a phone call or finding a place that would suit your friends need. I wish her well.

Greenonion is right, and a good Methodist Pastor should help. I have found that a good long walk in the country, time spent in meditation - especially on psalms, and some extra time studying the scriptures will help her through difficult times.

We will be in prayer for your friend

I remember some time ago there being an article in one of the local newspapers about nearby churches opening up Confession, and I'm pretty sure some of them were Methodist. Maybe it's only a local thing (around Tampa Bay/Pinellas County); I don't know about nationally.

However, it would be like what greenonion described. Being able to get it off your chest in private confidence.
