  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you expect this to be a Bond film, you will be disappointed. Yes, it has James Bond in it, but it doesn't have all that a Bond film should have in it. I spent almost two hours having only seen half a Bond film. I don't fault the acting, or the action, but I do fault the writing. Still much better than "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," but it's not a good Bond film by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm a huge Bond fan and I loved it. Yes, it's different from many of the previous films but that's why the series has lasted over 40 years, because it's able to change and adapt with the times. It feels like a transitional film and I liked seeing Bond change and develop from beginning to end.

I really really liked it. It wasn't your typical Bond movie, but I think that's because it was a sequel, and Bond movies never tie in together. Because Casino Royale showed the beginning of Bond they wanted to build up his character. He hasn't fully become the Bond we know from the previous films; it's more personal. I think after this one they will start going back to the original style.

That beign said, I had a little bit of a hard time getting into it at first, but in then I really started enjoying it. I think they did a great job and Daniel Craig is a great Bond!

I know I'm coming very late to the party here...but I've heard two people speak quite negatively about On Her Majesty's Secret Service and I'm amazed. While Lazenby wasn't the strongest actor, OHMSS contains some of the strongest cinematography, storytelling, and certainly one of the most astounding endings in all 22 of the Bond films.

As for Quantum...I'm glad they're keeping things a bit more Fleming-like in Craig's interpretation of Bond. Bond doesn't need a lot of gadgets and piles of one-liners. Bond really just needs globe-hopping, action, and intrigue...and a good looking dame or two. My problem with Quantum was the over-abundance of unnescesary action scenes and the entirely too quickfire nature of the editing.

When I went to see Quantum of Solace with my friends, I thought 'Hey, it's a Bond movie, I don't have to see the previous one.' Boy was I wrong. As a result, I ended up disliking the movie greatly. But after seeing 'Casino Royale' things clicked and I saw it as a better movie. Then again, better than Brosnan's later Bond films!

I really like the direction they are headed with the new Bond movies. Craig is not as sophisticated or polished as the others, but in exchange for that he is a lot more human. The emotional contrast of his feelings for the main Bond girl in QoS (who he didn't sleep with) and seeing Bond dispassionately sit on a guy's chest as the dude bleeds out was quite striking.

I hated it. The trailer made it look fantastic. It was all action and no plot or character. Worst bond movie ever and one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I just zoned out through all of it.

I did like the ending line, after Bond was re-hired, Bond notes, "I always was working for you".

Really, though, 24 has done this much better.
