  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you not like it when people don't take your allegations that they use strawman fallacies against them and ask that you back up your claims? You claim to have come from a reality where Faiyum did not exist. Since Faiyum has influenced history in this reality, the reality you claim to have come from must have had a different history. I am asking you to tell us your memories from that different reality and explain how the world was different.

I know I've asked you several times now to give an example where I used a strawman argument against you, and you have refused to do so. I suspect you can't, because I have never actually done so. And I don't see where anyone else has either.

Everyone's memory is flawed.

In any case, me saying your memory is flawed is not a strawman attack, it is me disagreeing with your claim that your memory is infallible. Such disagreements are the very cornerstone of a debate thread like this. You can't just cry, "Strawman fallacy!" every time someone disagrees with a claim you make.

And if your memory being infallible is the foundation of your argument, you need to support that claim, since without it, your argument collapses. You have never demonstrated that your memory is infallible. And your claim of an infallible memory is not something that you can just assume will be taken as fact.
