I'm going to ignore that generalization. People don't choose, as I've said. When someone's bi they have the same attraction for men as they do for women.

that generalization isn't made to everyone. I don't know how many people are attracted to both sexes without them just wanting to have sex with those people. Some people do choose. Not all people choose. i'm talking about the people who don't choose.

That is true that so people choose. Those who choose are mostly out of curiosity, they don't know what they are as far as sexuality goes. Bisexuality is mostly among younger teenagers, though I have met and adult or two who claims to be bisexual. But I've never met a married person who claims it.

Aside from sexual reasons why would a person be bisexual?

Same sex feelings sometimes develop during adolescence for whatever reason. As people mature they have a greater understanding of what they are attracted to and the feelings go away.

This is why it is common in teenagers and college students, while those who are older and married don't have those feelings. There are rare exceptions when those feelings are not let go.

what if they chose to be that way to please their significant other? what if they partaked in those activities because their mate asked them to? wouldn't that still make them bi by choice?

Nope. Bisexuals are people that are genuinely attracted to people of both sexes. What they choose to do is of no consequence to their sexuality.

I must say this seems a pretty poor understanding of sexuality. Some people may go through phases, but that doesn't mean that many are not definitely bi or gay.

Maybe, because gender isn't something that should determine a relationship and whether or not it's successful.
Why is it so difficult to see a woman being equally happy in a imitate relationship with a woman or a man. It's basically once you've found your 'soul-mate' or someone that you can relate on all levels, someone that you feel destined to be with and couldn't imagine your life without, it doesn't matter if they are male or female.
You do not choose who you are attracted too. I can't force myself to be attracted to a certain person...a straight person can't force themselves to be attracted to the same sex, and vice versa for homosexuals.
