I wanted to revisit a theory that Jesus' parable of the fig tree in Matthew 24:32-35 suggests that Israel's progressive restoration is a sign that the time of the end is near. To do this, I want to go back to Ezekiel 36, where God treats the surrounding nations and "Edom" the way they treated Israel by reversing the curses back on them and blessing Israel. Take a look at the similarities:

"Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near;"
- Matthew 24:32 NASB1995

"But you, O mountains of Israel, you will put forth your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel; for they will soon come."
- Ezekiel 36:8 NASB1995

I suggest that the parable of the fig tree is a reference to Ezekiel 36:8 and provides us guidelines on when to look out for signs. We know that the Mandate of Palestine was given over to the Jews that fled Europe after the Holocaust in 1948, forming the nation of Israel. When they returned they sought a nation that honored God above all and obey His commands (even though they still reject Jesus). Take a look at Deuteronomy 30.

"Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD you God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live. The LORD your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecute you. And you shall again obey the LORD, and observe all His commandments which I command you today."
- Deuteronomy 30:6-8 NASB1995

In both Ezekiel 36 and Deuteronomy 30, God says He will turn the curses He placed against Israel against those who persecute him. This is HUGE.

Now take a look at Revelation 6's six seals. Jesus opens a sealed scroll, which is the deed to the promises God made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and the Twelve Apostles. Take a look and notice how they all lead to one another:

Seal 1: Restoration of the Land of Israel: Beginning in 1948 and continuing to this day.
Seal 2: Intifadas and Terrorism: Beginning in 1987 and continuing to this day.
Seal 3: Gaza Blockade and Post-war Lebanese Economy, beginning in 2006 and continuing to this day.
Seal 4: Desolation of Gaza in 2023 (and likely Lebanon in the coming months) and continuing to this day.
Seal 5: Islamist Jihad across the world stemming from protests of the War in Gaza in 2024. Likely to intensify after the U.S. presidential election.
Seal 6: Sign of the Son of Man. The elect remnant of Israel given seal of protection.
Seal 7: The Great Tribulation begins (against the world). God will stop restraining the son of perdition so the people of God can be refined (See Zech 13:8-9).

Given that, and understanding how sensationalist this comes across, I think we should be getting our things in order (as every generation should). David once wrote that a generation is 70-80 years old. 1948 + 80 = 2028. The Time of the End is 3.5 years. Makes you wonder.

I imagine many will disagree with me, and that's fine. Just staying watchful. God bless.

I like the comparison with Ezekiel, it seems spot on. It seems a stretch to use Rev 6 prematurely though your effort is worthy. The parallels to me, do not measure up in their intensity or breadth. Most think that is part of the tribulation. So you are seeing the birth pangs, or precursors in those parallels but unlikely the seals as of yet.

One question...why would our Father bless modern geopolitical Israel? Israel is 45% or more secular and of those who keep the Jewish faith do not believe in our Messiah. So let us reason. Double fulfillment is not a good hermeneutical practice. Be blessed.

Thanks. I understand your point. I’ll try to elaborate.

The tribulation of the saints is not the Great Tribulation. The tribulation of the saints, according to Luke 21 is before the signs while Matthew 24 shows it as occurring afterward. Essentially, the fifth seal indicates that it would continue until the predetermined number of martyrs is fulfilled. We can expect, however, persecution to intensify, especially given the migration of millions of people that are outspoken about their hatred for Jews and Christians.

The Great Tribulation is a period of time when ALL people except the elect remnant are divided into three camps by the fiery trials they will endure: 1) Those who follow Jews (by listening to the Two Witnesses), 2) Those who follow after worldly things (idolatry)), and 3) Those who follow the beast (by listening to the False Prophet). That is why the judgment is in thirds. It will weed out the idolaters because their false gods will not save them.

Therefore, the birth pangs are the seven seals. When Israel put forth its branches and began bearing fruit, that was when the appointed time began. Jesus said the love of most would grow cold and many would follow after false prophets. If I am correct, persecution against Christians will rapidly intensify and it will be followed by cosmic disturbances that take place while the elect are being sealed as protection during the Great Tribulation.

And if anyone is curious, I do not think Islam is the beast. I think the beast utterly annihilates Islam (Gog and Magog).

The reason is because Jesus will fulfill the promises God made to our ancestors; to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and the Twelve Apostles. If you compare what Paul said in Romans 11 to the events in Revelation 7, you’ll see that God does not leave His promises up to chance. He has and will elect Israelites to follow only Jesus.

Additionally, the account of the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11 shows that the remainder of Jews in Jerusalem will glorify God (aka praise Jesus) when they see the Two Witnesses resurrected. Revelation 14 shows Jesus standing on Mount Zion with the 144,000 elect, where he will separate the wheat from the tares on His judgment throne.

In a nut shell, All of Israel shall be saved (Romans 11:26). The Jews will be purified (Zech 13:8-9), they mourn for piercing Jesus (Zech 12:10-11), and Jesus will come save them during that Great Tribulation (Zech 14).

“For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭32‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬)

Wouldn't Jesus Christ of Nazareth BE that promise? Doesn't seem logical that a piece of land overrides their Messiah. One must really come to a logical conclusion. But I understand there is a process first, as I went through it. Coveting land is not the Gospel.
Be blessed.

Jesus fulfills and is the fulfillment of the promises. God made a covenant that was unconditional (namely the Abrahamic Covenant, the Davidic Covenant and the New Covenant).

Essentially, Jesus will bring the 144,000 Israelites (Abraham’s descendants) to the Palestine (Abraham’s land) and will rule with them and the Twelve Apostles (New Covenant) from Zion (Davidic Covenant). God said in Scripture that He will create in His people the desire to obey His commands (Mosaic Law). That is the elect. Everyone else falls under the New Covenant (because following the Mosaic Law perfectly is impossible by human ability without divine assistance). What an awesome God we have!

Good job on the Ezekiel 36 reference. Many on this board like to kick the can down the line to Jerusalem 1967 start point because their conception of how things play out doesn't match a 1948 starting point. But this Ezekiel 36 verse puts a nail in that option, imo.

That said, the sign of the son of man does not occur until the 7th Trumpet at Rev 12. Again, the 'sign of the son of man' is the Rev 12 sign and occurs after the great tribulation of those days (Matthew 24:29-30). This 'sign' is the sign of Immanuel in Isaiah 7 & 8 signalling the destruction of Ephraim and Damascus/ Syria.

The great tribulation begins at the Trumpets on a Feast of Tabernacles. God is 'sheltering' the faithful from the start of the great tribulation that is beginning.

Revelation 14 is the 'harvest' (from First Fruits/ Nisan 16(?) to the grape harvest (Feast of Tabernacles) at the 'end of the age'.

Our relationship with the Lord is spiritual (a relationship with Christ) .... when Jesus came the first time everything needed for salvation was fulfilled in Him. ALL covenants are fulfilled through Christ. The door of salvation (through Christ is open to anyone until His return.

We are made aware that things will get progressively worse on planet earth ... they are ... and will continue until He returns. Jesus said it would be "like" the days of Noah ... what happened there will be what it is like in the end times.

Genesis 6

Berean Standard Bible
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time.

He will return then .... it's not a specific time or event that we are made aware of ... it's the condition of humanity.

Like in the days of Noah .... there was a small group of people that were spared and the rest were destroyed by the flood. Same thing will happen ... but this next time ... all the wicked will be destroyed by fire.

The depravity of humanity as a whole is taking place as we see and will get worse as time goes on ... we see the signs but do not know the time. Very rough times ahead for humanity and especially the people of God. The book of Revelation is centered on worship and many will be led into worshiping a "false god". This false worship system will be a power that is enforces their beliefs with the state (government) enforcing their beliefs ... those who join that system receives the mark of the beast. This "beast" as the bible describes it will persecute the people of God. Very similar to when Jesus was crucified ... it was those in the Jewish system that called for the crucifying of our Lord ... but it was the State government of the time (Pilot) that actually carried it out.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 GNTDWhat has happened before will happen again. What has been done before will be done again. There is nothing new in the whole world.

We need to be ready at all times. If and when we die earthly death our eternal condition is sealed ... when Jesus returns judgement has taken place for all times ... the eternal condition for everyone has been decided for eternity.

Their is no need for Jesus to rule on planet earth (ALL covenants are and have been fulfilled through Him for all times) ... the door of salvation is open now for anyone who will come ... and will remain open until His return. What happens with todays physical Israel doesn't matter ... everything is and has been fulfilled in Jesus.

Thanks! I’m glad I’m finally getting somewhere with this. Yes, I was thinking of the cosmic disturbances and not the sign of the Son of Man at the seventh trumpet. Good catch.

We can easily match the events Jesus gave in the Olivet Discourse to Revelation 6, so we know that they are all events that precede the Great Tribulation. Luke 21 gives a great description of it:

““There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (‭‭Luke‬ ‭21‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬)

It matches language about the sixth seal:

“I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they *said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”” (Revelation‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬-‭17‬ NASB1995)

It matches Joel 2, Zechariah 12, Ezekiel 35-36, Deuteronomy 30, Isaiah 34, and Zephaniah 2-3.

We have such a blessed privilege to be given insight on these matters. It tells me we are very close.

Because the Trumpets begin on a Feast of Tabernacles (15 Tishri), then the 6th Trumpet will be on a 15 Adar. This is the 'winter Sabbath great tribulation' of Matt 24:20-21. This 5 month period (15 Tishri to 15 Adar) is characterized by pestilence, EQs, financial collapse, probably terrorist attacks. It culminates at the 6th Trumpet with the 'sword' which is to say, WWIII.

Feast of Tabernacles is never in the winter (obviously), but 15 Adar is. We can just go through a list of when 15 Adar lands on a Sabbath/ Saturday.

Ezekiel: appointed as a watchman for the Israelites in exile Ezekiel 2:3 & 17

Ezekiel 36:1-38 This is what the Lord says about the Land of Israel: Israel, you were trampled down when you were occupied by other nations. I will now speak to the Land, plundered and despised by the surrounding nations.
In My burning zeal, I have spoken out against the rest of the nations, especially Edom, for with glee and malice they seized My Land as spoil. Therefore, because Israel has suffered the scorn of the nations, I swear that those nations will in turn suffer scorn.

But you, Land of Israel, bring forth your branches and yield your fruit for My people, for their homecoming is near. See how I will look on you with favour, you will be fruitful. I shall settle on you many people -the whole 12 tribes of Israel, the towns inhabited and the Land prosperous. My people, all the faithful Israelites will live there again, never again to leave. No longer will they suffer the scorn of foreigners.

When ancient Israel was living in the Land, they defiled it by their idolatry. I sentenced them to exile around the world. But I have concern for My Holy Name, so you Israelites, it is not for your sake that I am acting – I shall show My Holiness through you and all the nations will know that I am the Lord.

I shall take you out of the world, gather you from every land and bring you back to your homeland. I will purify you of everything that defiles you. You will have a new heart and I will put My spirit within you and you will desire to only follow My Laws.

Then you will live in the Land that I had given to your forefathers. You will be My people and I will be your God. Having saved you from all that defiles you, I shall command the Land to be plentiful, trees will bear abundant fruit and the soil will produce heavy crops. Never again will you suffer famine.

You will recall your wicked conduct and evil deeds and will hate yourself for them. Feel the shame and disgrace of your old ways, people of Israel.

The Lord says: when I have cleansed you of all your wrongdoings, you will settle in the Land and the ruined places will be rebuilt. The Land will be ploughed and sown, no longer a wasteland, rain will come in due season.

The nations still left around you will know that it is I, the Lord who has done this.

The Lord says; once again, I will let the Israelites pray to Me for help. They will become many, as flocks of sheep in the Land. As Jerusalem has flocks of sheep at festival time, so will the towns of Israel be filled with flocks of people.

Then they will know that I am their God.
Ref: REB verses abridged.

I will now speak to the Land, plundered and despised by the surrounding nations’. The Lord will once again take action on the earth, His holy Land; now inhabited mostly by atheists and foreigners are surrounded by nations and entities who hate the State of Israel and want to ‘’wipe it off the map’. Jeremiah 12:14, Psalm 83:1-8, Micah 4:11-12

In My burning zeal, I have spoken out against the rest of the nations, especially Edom’. This refers to the forthcoming Lord’s Day of vengeance and wrath, a worldwide judgement of fire, prophesies over 100 times in the Bible. The explosion of the suns surface, a massive CME, that He will use on that Day, will strike initially in the Middle East, particularly affecting the Middle East region. Zephaniah 2:4-5 It will be God’s solution for the troubles and strife there.

Ezekiel 35:1-14, describes in detail who modern day Edom is and what the Lord has planned for them; Ezekiel 35:5-6 They are peoples that have kept up their ancient feud with Israel and they glorify bloodshed and death

Jeremiah 25:32-33 Ruin spreads from nation to nation, a mighty tempest is coming onto all the godless peoples. Those whom the Lord has slain on that Day, will lie scattered from one end of the earth to the other, they will be as dung spread over the ground.

‘The homecoming of the whole twelve tribes of Israel is near. The people Jesus came to save: Mathew 15:24

They were sentenced to exile around the world for their sins, but now I shall take you out of the world, gather you from every land and settle you in your inheritance’:
The decreed exile of the Lord’s people is nearly over. Ezekiel 34:11-16, Isaiah 35:1-10
The gathering of all the [Christian] Israelite people from every race. Isaiah 66:18b-21, Micah 4:6
To all the land promised to the Patriarchs. Micah 7:11-12, Ezekiel 47:13-23
They will enter the land with great joy. Isaiah 66:14, Isaiah 62:1-5, Zechariah 8:1-8
And live there in peace and security. Isaiah 66:12-14, Jeremiah 30:19-20

‘I shall show My Holiness through you, you will receive a new heart and My spirit will come upon you’. This proves that all these events happen before the Return of Jesus, when he ‘comes in glory and all the world will see Him’. But until then, the Lord uses His people ‘to be a light to the nations and be His witnesses to the world’. Isaiah 49:8, Isaiah 43:10-12 The Lord will change the minds of His people, they will love Him unfailingly. Isaiah 32:15, Isaiah 59:21, Ezekiel 37:14 & 23

‘I shall command the Land to be plentiful, no longer a wasteland, rain will come in due season. The towns of Israel will be filled with people’. After the burning and earthquakes of this terrible CME; Malachi 4:1, Isaiah 66:15-16, Revelation 6:12-17 Ezekiel 38:8; says that His people, now every faithful Christian, Galatians 3:26-29 will be gathered from the nations, will be living in a Land recently recovered from ruin. Rain will come and the Land will be fertile. Isaiah 35:1-10, Zechariah 8:12, Psalms 68:9-10, Romans 9:24-26

The nations still left around you’;
Amos 1:3-5 For crime after crime of Damascus, [Syria] I will send fire upon them. Isaiah 17:1-3

Amos 1:6-8 For crime after crime of Gaza, [Palestinians] all the Philistines will perish. Joel 3:4

Amos 1:9-10 For crime after crime of Tyre, [Lebanon] I shall send fire upon them. Eze. 26:15-21

Amos 1:11-12 For crime after crime of Edom, [Ishmaelites] I shall send fire upon you. Bozrah, [the sheepfold] cleansed to be the place of safety during the Tribulation. Isaiah 34:5-6

Amos 1:13-15 For crime after crime of the Ammonites, [Jordan] I shall send fire upon you. Their King will go into exile. Ezekiel 25:1-7

Amos 2:1-3 For crime after crime of Moab, [Southern Jordan: Arab peoples] I shall send fire upon you. Your King and officers will be killed. Ezekiel 30:2-5

Amos 2:4-5 For crime after crime of Judah, [the State of Israel] I shall send fire upon you, for you have not kept the Law. Ezekiel 20:47-48 Only a Jewish remnant will survive. Romans 9:27

Amos 2:6-16 For crime after crime of Israel, [the 10 tribes, in exile] They will be judged and their military destroyed. Isaiah 17:4-6

They will know that I am their God’. This makes it obvious that all this must take place before the visible Return of Jesus. His people will be living once again in the holy Land, sending out missionaries and preparing for the coming Kingdom. Revelation 14:1-7, Isaiah 66:19

They choose their own leader. Jeremiah 30:21, Hosea 1:11

Ezekiel 28:24-26 No longer will the Israelites suffer from the scorn of their neighbours. When I gather the Israelites from where they have been dispersed, I shall show My Holiness in them for all the nations to see. After I execute My judgement on those scornful neighbours, My people will live on their own soil, undisturbed and they will build houses and plant vineyards, thus they will know that I am the Lord, their God.

Thanks. What I mean is what got you to 2028, as opposed to any other date? For example, mine was based on 80 years from the establishment of the nation of Israel.

I also based it on Psalm 90:10's 80 years from 1948. I had that on my chart a while back, but it is cluttered enough.

Land is no longer relevant....
"And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”

I believe it's important to keep a message such as this in the context it is being used.
Jesus gave many signs in his Olivet discourse that would precede his coming. Then he says ,when you see these things ,know that it is near.He is not talking about the Jews returning into the land of Israel. He is talking about the signs he gave in his Olivet discourse which precede his coming.

Mathew 24
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Could be. I think people shy away from such interpretations out of fear of being wrong. But Deuteronomy 30 shows us that God is actively working on bringing His promises. The promises of God are dependent on God’s faithfulness, not ours. God made a covenant with Abraham. That covenant is not annulled just because Jesus opened the promises to all people. Romans 11 is clear on that. Even if millions of Jews reject Jesus, God has already elected a remnant to always follow Jesus where he goes.

“I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel? “Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.” But what is the divine response to him? “I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps. And they *sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand who had been purchased from the earth. These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“But I will leave among you A humble and lowly people, And they will take refuge in the name of the Lord. The remnant of Israel will do no wrong And tell no lies, Nor will a deceitful tongue Be found in their mouths; For they will feed and lie down With no one to make them tremble.” At that time I will bring you in, Even at the time when I gather you together; Indeed, I will give you renown and praise Among all the peoples of the earth, When I restore your fortunes before your eyes,” Says the Lord.”

I'm thinking that remnant of Israel which is blessed will be beaten in the synagogues before Christ comes. One of the signs Jesus said would take place before his coming.

Mark 13
9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

Mathew 24:33
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
