• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I struggle at times to feel I have purpose in this life. I take some steps forward and then some back. I am 28 and living at home battling agoraphobia and other issues. I just wonder what will happen with my life. I am blessed to have Jesus and my 2 cats for I love them so much. I am blessed to have counseling with pastor. We are starting an anxiety book soon. Also I have therapy and support group coming. I hope the group helps me.

I just wonder what will happen with my life. I still do not drive. I do not work and am on SSI. How can God even use me? Yes I love to pray but it is hard for me to go out to serve these days.

I am sorry I had to vent because I just don't feel like God has plans for me but that has to be the enemy.

I don't have any friends I hang out with but I have one friend Crystal who is like 40 minutes away. I hope to see her soon. I just get lonely. A lot of my old "friends" were just not the best of friends or good examples.

I could use friends.

Just pray if you don't mind.

being a prayer warrior is more important then just about any position as long as it is done according to the word. because no revival i know of has never happened without prayer warriors first spending time and energy to prepare that area for revival.

btw what is agoraphobia? are you going to go to a christian support group or another type? what are you looking for in a friend? what are you praying for so we can come along side and agree with you in prayer?

God bless

Did you know Moses was scared to speak, even though the Lord was speaking to him directly?

Exodus 3:11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharoah, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?"

Exodus 4:1 Then Moses answered and said, "What if they will not believe me, or listen to what I say? For they may say, the Lord has not appeared to you."

Even after turning a staff into a snake, and watching his hand go from leprous to healed, Moses still did not believe he could do this

Exodus 4:10 Then Moses said to the Lord, Please Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since Thou hast spoken to Thy servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue"

Point being, even Moses one of the more famous people in the bible doubted that God could actually use him.

Also if you've never heard it before, I suggest listening to this, I found it extremely encouraging

Victorious! The David Ring Story - I - Listen to Dr. Dobson from Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk (part 1)

Victorious! The David Ring Story - II - Listen to Dr. Dobson from Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk (part 2)

Victorious! The David Ring Story - III - Listen to Dr. Dobson from Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk (part 3)

It's about a guy who now goes all over the country giving speeches, and he has cerebral palsy. The last person you'd expect to be doing public speech.

All throughout the bible we see ordinary people being used by God. People who others don't give a second look, but God chooses to use them in the most miraculous ways.

As 7angels said, being a prayer warrior is a very important job and I think it's a gift.

God has a purpose for you, and maybe you're fulfilling some of that purpose right now just by praying for people. Prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have as Christians and often it doesn't get recognized like it should.

Hang in there, God's not done with you. All of us go through periods of time when we feel inadequate. That we're not enough or that God can't use us. But He will, and He can if we allow it. That's part of the beauty of how God works. He allows us to be a part of things we would never dream of accomplishing on our own, but if we allow Him to take the wheel, He will use us in incredible ways.

I would say that the enemy is trying to discourage you. God most certainly does have plans for you, he says so in Jeremiah 29:11.
Prayer is powerful, if you like to pray that's great! Don't ever underestimate it. I'm sure God has used you and will continue to through your praying and intercession.
That being said, many times I have felt the same and it can be discouraging, so I will definitely pray for you.

Thanks so much, everyone. I will try and listen to those links sometime soon. And with my anxiety issues, I struggle to go out and am often home bound and isolating.

Hi cally, I'm sorry times are so hard for you now. You have helped me a lot with your prayers and support. God does have a purpose for you even if you can't see it. I was feeling the same way more recently and I am on SSI, too. I don't have many friends either but I have made some online friends and I find that helpful. I'll keep you in my prayers. God bless you. Love you my friend!

:wave:Cally! God definitely has a plan for your life! I can assure you He has not overlooked you or any of His other children.

My personal encouragement on the practical side is take baby steps everyday-everyday. Get out even to the porch or yard even if just for a few minutes, and try not to skip a day. All of the other things you're doing are good too. I'm going to pray for you now.

Cally I have been struggling a lot with finding purpose as well. I find that our depression makes this feeling that we don't have purpose much worse than it really is.

For one good thing is that in Jesus we always have purpose, for He suffered and died to save us. We are His beloved children, He cares for us. Our purpose is that we are God's own even though we are ill.

I also like C.F it has given me much purpose to pray for and support others who are struggling.

And finally I think that our purpose for the time being is that we are there for other people to love and be supported by. There is nothing wrong with needing love and support it is for this reason that God made such things available.

Praying that you will find love and purpose being around for others.:prayer:

I am really struggling with this today. I just can't really envision a future of serving God. Maybe once I work more on mental health stuff I will see it.

I have had so many times in my life where I thought I knew where my life was going then God shows me otherwise. It leaves me feeling lost at times. I am trying to trust in Him more and be obedient. I am trying to remember anything is possible with Him. I just, I feel so lost...very, very lost.

I think every Christian feels like that at some point in his life. We're children of God, but still humans. Even after a day of amazingly strong faith we can plummet to doubt and uneasiness again. You said that there were instances of your life where you thought you knew where you were going but God convicted you. Remember that God rebukes those He loves! A good friend wouldn't let you take a path that leads off a cliff. Keep praying; God is ALWAYS in control no matter what.

@drjean: Don't say that, friend. And don't believe it. That's a lie from Satan. God wants everybody to come and be saved through his Son, and He wants to use all of his children to glorify His name. Even me :D
