  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey, thanks. Not bad from watching vids on YouTube. I wish I had some old time players to jam with...karate was fun tonight. I ran through all my kata up to nidan and then forgot a few movements.

I'm so behind on beers and liquor....I have fond memories of the original Coors, before they went national. They used to call it Colorado Kool-aid. Living in Ohio, you'd have to take a big cooler with you in the trunk of your full-sized Oldsmobile, buy it out in Colorado, ice it down real good, and drive like heck to get back home to Ohio. When they went national, pasteurization ruined the taste.

I'm partial to Bacardi Light and Pepsi (Cuba Libre done right), no lime. As for beers, nowadays, it's Amber Bock or Michelob Ultra, Honey Brown, Killians Red, or very occasionally, a Sam Adams. If none of those are available, I'll go with a Bud Light, although I don't like it that much, But it's more consistent than many.

The absolute worst beer? Rolling Rock. That stuff is as green as grass!

Cigars? Don't often smoke 'em. Last one I had was a nice Cohiba (Cuban, not Dominican), along with a nice Merlot, with an old Buddy of mine from the 70's out on the back deck of his place in California, after a great steak dinner. First Cuban I've had, and very nice.

I'm sipping Glenlivet right now, two drops of distilled water if you must, must know...( lol ) and I wish I had brandy and my pipe!

I haven't had a cigar in years but I hope to enjoy one in the near future. The last one I had was a cheap Century Sam and it tasted just awful.

About the only time I have any drink is out with friends, and then always in moderation. At home, it's coffee and iced tea, and sometimes a Dr. Pepper soda, or "pop" as we call it here. Actually I'm more or less just across the Lake from you.

I haven't smoked a pipe in years. I have fond memories of my grandfather, who smoked a pipe, and always used Prince Albert pipe tobacco. Just the smell of it will bring back a flood of great memories. My other grandfather chewed. Never had the desire to try that...

I've had some Martini & Rossi Asti at a family gathering today, it is semi sweet with a burst of flavor when meeting the tongue, I don't usually care for sparkling wine or champagne but I must say it's excellent.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I can't wait for the grandkids to open their presents in the morning! Christmas can only be topped by Easter, a Savior born and a Savior risen!

Tried some whiskey the other day , a nice drop of scotch with ginger and ice , mmm

Ahhh cyg! We'll never see eye to eye on all theology, but know, I do consider you my brother and I'm glad we can sit in the pub and enjoy a drink together.

I've never had scotch and ginger before. The last few times I sipped scotch it just didn't do it for me. I normally wouldn't add anything to my whiskey but you maybe on to something.

scotch is a dangerous drink , treat it like a box of fireworks , add either water , lemonade or ginger ale (American or Canadian ) and ice ..... mmmmm . I use it only on special occasions I know it has power.

Happy New Years JM :)

Grouse , Glenfiddich and Bells are real good .

tried Bourbon , American whisky twice and spat it out , too sour for my taste

lol, you didn't like bourbon? If you're use to scotch I can see why, it's a lot sweeter...are you a peat man? Do you like heavy peat flavoured scotch?

I've been on a brandy kick the last few months.

I have never tried a Scotch I didn't like , I like Scotland , I can see why A W Pink settled there after moving all over the world , sad to say some youngster was recently murdered on Stornoway , Pink would have been horrified .

Brandy came out at Christmas (didn't get used) i haven't touched it since my last tipple , too strong for me .

Real Ales are my main drink , they intrigue me after being in the trade for over 30 years ... I used to deliver to about 15 pubs a day . Now it's Breweries and Warehouses . Try getting hold of Theakstons or Abbotts Ale and Exmoor Gold ... the best British ales I know.

I do like the smell of breweries , all those hopps and yeast

this is how beer should be served ;

Scotch whisky exports up by 23%

Scotch whisky exports soared over the first nine months of this year, with the valuation of shipments rising by 23% on the same period last year.
The value reached nearly £3bn, with the industry pulling in £125 every second.
Exports to Brazil were up nearly 50%, reaching almost 10 million litres of pure alcohol, according the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA).
The city of Recife in Brazil is believed to have the highest per capita consumption of whisky in the world.
The value of exports to the USA remained the highest of any country, at £430m.

BBC News - Scotch whisky exports up by 23%

IT’S the water of life that’s been keeping Scottish parties and pubs alive for hundreds of years.
But as the nation gets ready to toast the bells with a dram, we’ll be joined in our celebrations by more people around the world than ever before.
Amid economic gloom, at least one Scottish industry has something to celebrate as our distillers sell 40 bottles of whisky every second – an all-time high.
And sales are approaching the £3billion barrier for the first time.
This is down to booming success in emerging markets that have seen people embracing Scots culture and booze like never before.
According to the people whose job it is to sell our national drink around the world, it’s only going to get better as the thirst for Scotch increases alongside the GDP of nations like Brazil, China, Taiwan and Russia.
They predict that more and more people will be opting to toast good fortune and success with a dram.
Whisky industry experts said the success of the beloved booze is down to changing fortunes around the world and an increasingly cooler new image for blends and malts.
At home the industry employs 10,300 people and has 108 distilleries.
There are more than 2500 brands made and exported around the world.
The US is the No1 market, worth £430.7million, while France is second at £366.6million.
