I might say to you that if we prayed to God and asked something like........

"Dear God, I want to ask you in hope of Jesus name that my just deceased loved one was saved, and I pray that he is safe in heaven with you right now"...........
I would completely agree in that kind of prayer for the dead.

Your belief is contradicted by the Bible.

Quite the contrary.

You either ............
1. you do not know MY belief
2. or you do not know what the Bible says.

Since you believe in Purgatory which is NOT found anywhere in the Bible at all, a safe position would be in the 2nd idea.

I am sorry my friend, but you are completely wrong and all those reading our posts know that what you just said is wrong.

Remember...I am the one quoting Scriptures and YOU are the one believing in "Traditions".

Facts ARE important. Allow me to demonstrate.......

Please post ANY Bible Scripture from the KJV, ESV, Living Bible, NIV, Amplified, NKJV,
Holman, NRSV, NASB, CSB, AMP.....
ONE single Scripture with the word "PURGATORY".

Remember.....YOU said facts are important, so then lets see more ACTION and less words!!!!!

First of all......YOU did not post the identification of the Scriptures you posted.

I am sure you are working hard to use 1 Corth. 3:10-15 to validate WHAT YOU WANT IT TO SAY but you did not say so and I for one hate to assume.

Secondly.....For you to take the position of saying...................
"You would be the very first Christian of ANY sect I know of who even attempts to deny this text speaks of the judgment of God where the works of the faithful will be tested after death"...............
simply means then that you do not know many Christians OR what Scripture actually does say.

IF.....IF you choose to place your knowledge of the Scriptures with mine.......
I Accept your challenge.

Having said that.......There is absolutely nothing in Scripture that mentions, or hints of, a place called Purgatory. Furthermore, it does not specifically say that the judgment comes immediately after death. The Scriptures teach the contrary.

NO WORKS follow the believer to heaven.

Ephesians 2:8-9........
"We are saved by GRACE through FAITH and not of our selves, least any many would boast"!

My point was that individuals who mindlessly and unwittingly repeat various words to God are not praying, but engaging in a type of work which will be burned up at the judgement seat of Christ. For example, in Tibetan Bhuddism if one places a certain flag in a windy location it is believed that every time the wind moves it a prayer is sent up to heaven. In a similar way there are Christians who believe that lighting a candle and placing it in front of an altar (usually of a particular saint) the prayers will ascend to God as long as the candle burns. That, assuredly, is not praying without ceasing.

Keep your focus on Jesus when you pray. I recommend the Rosary for all, it is very much praying the Bible. One method used for praying is to visualize yourself being at the event. For example, when praying the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary imagine yourself being there at the cross seeing how Jesus suffered for us all. As to candles, if it helps you focus on prayer that is great, remember Jesus is the light of the world.

I don't quite get the connection of a focus on Jesus when somebody says, "Hail, Holy Queen".

Mary will always lead you to Jesus. She is part of salvation history, and the Word of God says that all generations are to call her blessed. Jesus made her our spiritual mother at the cross. In the Davidic Kingdom, and I urge you to read Isaiah, the mother of the king, not the wife, but the mother of the king is the queen. Our Blessed Mother makes constant petitions on our behalf. Jesus worked his first public miracle at the Wedding at Cana as per her request. Do you call her blessed?

The Rosary is a way of repeating the same words over and over.....is it not? YES it is!

Matthew 6:7.......
"But when you pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

That is the reason Catholics say prayers, rather than pray. The idea that a pray can be spontaneous and from the heart is quite alien to them.

God bless you my friend. I am very sorry that you have not grasped the meaning of the Bible Scriptures.

Mary was NOT made our "spiritual mother" at the cross. That is strictly a RCC traditional teaching with no roots in reality of Scriptures.

When Jesus was on the cross, both the apostle John and Mary the mother of Jesus stood nearby. In John 19:26027 we read........
“When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’

From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.” The clear undeniable understanding of the passage is that Jesus commanded John to care for Mary after His death.

Mary was most certainly a widow at this point in her life and also an older woman. Though she had other sons, Jesus chose John to provide care for Mary after His death. Why? Jesus’ brothers did not become believers until after His resurrection (John 7:5).

Further, Jesus’ brothers were not present at His crucifixion. Jesus was entrusting Mary to John, who was a believer and was present, rather than entrusting her to His brothers, who were not believers and who were not even present at His crucifixion.

As the oldest son in His family, Jesus had a cultural obligation to care for His mother, and He passed that obligation on to one of His closest friends.

Well, the point of that statement was that VAIN repetitions are wrong, not that all repetitions are improper. In addition, there obviously is also that other and related m--the heathens are described as "show offs" with their praying, and we should not be like that.

But this doesn't mean the rosary is all that is claimed for it by some users. For one thing, it's a devotion to Mary specifically, not God. That's where the word "rosary" comes from...it's supposedly a spiritual kind of bouquet given to Mary, similar to a bouquet of roses that might be given to a lady friend.

Not only is the most common prayer that's recited on the rosary the 'Hail Mary,' but contrary to what is often said about it by users of the rosary, the second half (or so) of the Hail Mary is not from Scripture but was composed and added only in recent times.

The praying of the Rosary says from the RCC handbook..........

Make the Sign of the Cross.
Say one Hail Mary on each of the next three beads.

Say the Glory Be

While fingering each of the ten beads of the decade, next say ten Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery. Then say a Glory Be.

After saying the five decades, say the Hail, Holy Queen, followed by this dialogue and prayer:

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

Now where in that is Jesus Christ mentioned???

Do you not understand the meaning of "Repetitious Words"????

Definition of repetitious
: characterized or marked by repetition especially : tediously repeating

I think it was mentioned earlier that the person is supposed to meditate on events in the life of Jesus while reciting the prayers appointed for each group of ten beads.

Purgatory is simply the purification spoken of in the Bible that comes before Heaven. Catholics also believe that nothing unclean can enter Heaven.

NO it is not my friend. There is NO/NONE/ZERO/NADA Scriptures that speak of a place or event that comes before heaven.

You are simply posting RCC traditional teachings which has NO concept in the Scriptures.

Again.......Purgatory is a completely concocted teaching by MEN and is alian to the Word of God.

However.....CONGRATULATIONS----you are correct that no unclean thing can enter heaven.

Revelation 21:27........
"But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life."

God's means of cleansing the sinner is by the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross, which cleanses us completely and brought us into fellowship with God; this same blood of Jesus keeps us clean from all sin that would sever that fellowship.

There is nothing else that we can do to be cleansed of sin and made righteous!!!

This is a continual cleansing from daily sins that are present from our fallen nature. The believer still struggles against his sinful nature, the confession of sin brings our trespasses to the light. The Scripture tells us To “walk in the light, as he is in the light” to have fellowship (koinonia) with the brethren and God.

This means lives of holiness and purity; characteristic of being a light in the world, an example of Christ. We are to walk in the truth; that is, embracing the truth in opposition to error. John 3:19- those who are darkness like it, and do not want to come to the light. God is light and Christianity is about those who come to light to know the depth of their darkness.

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Confession of sins, Greek- homologeia - “to say the same things as” God does about our sins. To agree with God is the only prerequisite for our complete forgiveness and cleansing. If we agree with God about our sins, confess them, we are forgiven and cleansed by our faithful and righteous High Priest!

Not so. She is giving you the new, more palatable, version of Purgatory. For half a millennium it was taught as a place of punishment for sins (purging), even sins that had already been forgiven! IOW, your earlier comments about Purgatory were correct; don't now argue the revisionist idea that is only a few years old, even if that is also untenable. Of course, you are correct that neither of them has Scriptural support.

There is also nothing specific in the Bible defining the Trinity. One God, three persons. You won't find the word "Trinity" in the Bible.

1 Pet 1:7
The genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire,
1 Cor 3:11-15
For no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there, namely, Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, the work of each will come to light, for the Day will disclose it. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire (itself) will test the quality of each one's work. If the work stands that someone built upon the foundation, that person will receive a wage. But if someone's work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved, but only as through fire.
Your problem was the problem since the beginning of the "reformation." People said the Bible is clear authority yet even the three leaders had differing opinions right from the start, particularly about the Holy Eucharist.
