Pure O

Anybody here diagnosed as a Pure O. I'm begining to think more about that could be me Other then just panic & SocAnxDisorder.

Bcause this is when you have thoughts that get stuck & one tries to alleviate the anxiety by nuetralizing the thought rite

My understanding of Pure O is that you have obsessions without compulsions. These obsessions are likely to be in the form of unwanted thoughts that cause high anxiety. This is what affects me, more than any other ocd symptom, even as we speak.

I have obsessions, too. Medication has been the only thing that has really helped me. It has not cured me,though, because I have many obsessions and they all aren't held down by the meds.

I have the same type of issue with my obsessions. Meds seem to prevent my response to the obsessions from getting catastrophic, but things are still tough at times. I am pretty sure that meds don't stop obsessional thinking, but they make it manageable enough to "work through" it. I have found that since taking meds many of my obsessions have lessened a lot (contamination, checking). God bless. Marc

Pure O is not without obsessions. It's all mental (compulsions are as well) . The Pure O is a misnomer.
