  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We read a lot in the Bible of the flames of Hell. A fire that will never burn out. I strongly believe that ther will be a Hell, but will it really burn for ewer. Just think being punished in a firey Hell with no escape, on and on day after day. As our Saviour is so full of love for us when we obey him, will he really punish us forever?

Consider how long forever is and you will realise the idea of eternal pain is absurd. If a God existed in that universe he would be a monster. The worst words would never convey the evilness of such a 'god'. Such a being would be the blackest black of evil.

Anyone who has been reconciled to God thru Jesus Christ His Son the only Saviour don't need to fear such a place, for those who haven't and refuse to then such a place does exist. The only question is; what are we doing to warn them of the dangers that they face?

Rev 20

The Judgment of the Dead

"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire."

Any existence for eternity, with or without pain, would be unacceptable. Eternity would be like a mental asylum - nobody could remain sane when faced with no prospect of an end to existence.

Well it depends how the that eternal world exists. I also had confusion about heaven during my loss of faith, but I would think that one way out would be to say that heaven works by different rules than Earth that make heaven bearable.

Strange then, how so many "exist" as though will never leave this world.
piling up goods and gold for themselves.

That is an insane condition.
The answer to it is, stop existing and start living,
but that may cost a little too much.

The same would need to be true of Hell - for eternal punishment to be punishment one must comprehend what is going on. Losing one's comprehension through insanity would make the punishment meaningless. And making those arrangements is not a sign of a loving god!

Besides which, I see no mention of these mind-altering drugs in the Bible :D.

I think eternal hell is a good idea because then the people or souls who did evil can't get back out and do more evil

and not believing in God is the greatest evil of all, so they can't get back out of hell and do the not believing thing any more either

If soon after creation man brought it down in one go. the fall, then it is man,s job to build it up again, it would be like building a house from ruins, if we invest time and energy in building up a house again from ruins, would it not be with the expectation of living in it, the world to come?

If eternity is laid down in each and everyone, then we don,t have a choice in how long we wish to exist or live, but how.

The "Fall", what will that say?
One can come at it from different angles,
Does it mean fallen out of a relationship with the Creator, the Scource of all things?
Well, if "He" is the only reality, then that would mean, man lost touch with reality.
Which in turn would mean, man has to work on the relationship, to build it up again.
This may be boring,
but just a thought.
What is a forum for anyway?

The fall for each of us can only be reversed thru Jesus (the Apostle Paul refers to Him as the second Adam);

1 Cor 15 -
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man."

Which means what?
If man was created last, and all other things through and by His word, before man, why did man have to be created from earth?
But sticking to what I was first going to respond with.
Man was created from the dust of the earth as is written, but then God took man and blew life into him.
What should we make of that?
And, who is this last Adam?

God created, how He created is told to us in Holy Scripture. I am not in the habit of arguing with God or His Holy Word!!

Jesus is the 2nd Adam. The 1st 2 human messed up, Jesus is the perfect Son of God and Son of Man. See John's Gospel for fuller explanation.

We have to remember that the only alternative to eternal punishment is robbing people of their freedom and forcing them in to heaven. This would not be heavenly but instead would be "hell" for them, since they would be trapped in a place where everyone is loving and praising the One (God) they most wanted to avoid!

Unbelievers prefer to be distanced from God in time. Why should be we not expect this to be their chosen state in eternity?

its hard to think that souls other than the devil and his angels would be tormented in fire and brimstone fore ever and ever.
its so more soothing to think ,people who die whithout christ in there sin, will be no more .
but there is going to be a resurection, and accountability of our lifes, and it will be bloody awful for those whithout christ.
i think it will be the most terrible time ever known in all eternity, and God wont have any pleasure in it.
but i have to leave it whith God,and know he is perfectly just in his judgments
jesus has provided a way of escape. so get right whith jesus, while you can.

This is really amazing, not one mention of an eye that sees and an ear that hears,

A story I heard told,
There was once an old miser who sat on piles and piles of gold, he would
never give away a cent.
So he came also to the end of the road, when he arrived at the heavenly tribunal the angels were rubbing there hands together and said, wonderful, we have been waiting for this moment a long time, suddenly another angel came in on the scene and said, stop! don,t touch him,
Why not he deserves to be punished,
No, don,t touch him, there was a time once when he gave 25 cents to someone who needed a meal.
So they did not quite know to do, so they withdrew to discuss it,after a few hours they came back, we have reached a verdict.
And what is it, asked the lonely angel.
We have decided to give him back his 25 cents and tell him to go to hell.

The point of the story is, we can fool ourselves, we can fool others but we can,t fool God.
Well maybe just a bedtime story.
