According to a recent Public Policy Poll of Republican primary voters:

49% do not believe in evolution.
61% of those who identify themselves as Tea Party do not believe in evolution.

57% favor establishing Christianity as the national religion
58% of those who identify themselves as Tea Party favor establishing Christianity as the national religion

The margin of error for the survey is +/- 5.5%

So much for supporting the U.S. Constitution....

True. It shows that the majority of all Republican primary voters have little regard for the First Amendment. Not much difference between the Tea Party and non-Tea Party wings.

But the Tea Partiers are particularly low information when it comes to evolution.

I do wonder what the voters in this poll thought having a "national religion" actually entails. I suspect different people thought it meant different things.

I do wonder what the voters in this poll thought having a "national religion" actually entails. I suspect different people thought it meant different things.

A "national religion" is anathema to us -- so is "religion."
