Another bad night
Another bad night
Secrets locked within me bubble and burst
The evil darkness quakes to reveal the worst
Visions from the past return to my bed
Ashes of my childhood swirl in my head
I am broken and bleeding, that sad painful feeling
My wounds are too deep and too old for healing
A little girl weeps once again in my dreams
Fighting her chains she begins to scream
Confused and alone she yells out, “WHY?”
Her young voice echoing is the only reply
Another bad night
Passing hours in fright
The veil of repression slips aside one more time
To eerily reveal the past that was mine
People and places
Long ago faces
Terror and sadness
A family’s cruel madness
Broken, cracked, snapped, and shattered
Scratched, thrown, beaten, and battered
Touches and words from an obscene world
Bruises and blood from objects hurled
Choked back screams and stifled tears
Hiding places from years of fears
Another bad night
Another bad night
Awakened by screams
From those childhood dreams
Once more to find that the veil has been dropped
The long ago images once again have stopped
Retreated behind the beloved repression
Until the next night they again find expression
