Christ refers to himself as the bridegroom...

He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom (referring to John the Baptist), which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. - John 3:29

And Christ will merry seven wives...

1. Ephesus – Apostolic – Leaving the first love… “All they which are in Asia be turned away from me…” – II Tim 1:15
2. Smyrna – Martyrs – Persecutions ten days… Foxes Book of Martyrs describes ten Roman persecutions.
3. Pergamos – Orthodox – A pyrgos is a fortified structure – Needed for the dark ages.
4. Thyatira – Catholic – The Spirit of Jezebel is to persecute, control, and to dominate. This spirit can invade any church!
5. Sardis – Protestant – A sardius is a gem, elegant yet hard and rigid. Doctrine in the head, little in the heart.
6. Philadelphia – Methodist – To obtain sanctification was to do so with love.
7. Laodicea – Charismatic – Rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing?

So I liken the Catholic church to a 'she.' And Jezebel also as a 'she.' The Catholic church in her time was very much a 'she.' You would not have wanted to have spoken out against 'her' in her glory days! There were great institutions set up in those days to get the heretics against 'her' to recant!

As far as the Catholic church, I believe that it is a Christian church and its members are saved. But I have no desire to join 'her.'

In 1552 William Gardiner was executed while in Portugal where he was trussed up and lowered into the flames - an especially slow and painful death. The Scottish martyrs were possibly better treated in that their death was aided by tying bags of gunpowder to the body and a cord tied round the neck. The cord about the neck was originally intended, by Catholic doctrine, to throttle the prisoner before burning but it seemed to become more of a means of shutting off the the dying words and perhaps the screams of burning.

So the saints you prayed to didn't die? They just were assumed into heaven like Mary?
One is assumed into heaven when one's body is transformed to be like Christ's resurrection body and one is taken into heaven by God. Mary was thus assumed into heaven, while christians in general await the resurrection of the body for their anticipated assumption into heaven to be with God in the heavenly Jerusalem, which, not too surprisingly, shall also be the new Jerusalem on the new Earth. As the scripture says,
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away." And he who sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." Also he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true." And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain of the water of life without payment. He who conquers shall have this heritage, and I will be his God and he shall be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death." (Revelation 21:2-8)

Mercy you're good at avoiding questions. You said that you don't pray to the dead. Logically that would mean that your saints never died. So if "assumption" is the wrong word then please explain to me what happened to them.

Oh, well that was answered when I pointed out that the heretical notion of soul sleep is rejected by the Catholic faith. We do not believe that the saints are dead because the Lord Jesus Christ refuted the Sadducee teaching about angels and the spirits of the faithful by saying, "You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not God of the dead, but of the living."

Thus the saints are among the living in the presence of God. They are no longer here on Earth among us, but they are, as the scripture says, "in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them". In the eyes of the foolish [who reject the hope of the resurrection and reject the rest of the righteous in God's presence] they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be an affliction, and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace.

Selective discernement doesn't suit you well. Those who die in Christ are sleeping as the scriptures say. They are looked at as such because they will rise again to eternal life, unlike the lost who will be destroyed. Consider the following text: And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Now if we use your method of interpretation, Jesus was sending this guy back to a group of zombies to help in bury his father.

So let's just be clear on this. You're saying that the Saints didn't die? Yes or no please.

I am not surprised that you interpret the passage quoted in your post the way that you do because soul sleep is the foundation upon which you build this interpretation. Soul sleep is, however, a false doctrine and a foundation resting on sand. It cannot stand. I think it is worth noting how the ancient Christians approached this passage (Matthew 8:21-22),
Let the dead bury their dead. The first words, let the dead, cannot mean those that were dead by a corporal death; and therefore must needs be understood of those who were spiritually dead in sin.

God will not suffer us to go and bury a deceased parent, when he calls us to other employments. (St. John Chrysostom)
John MacArthur (A Californian pastor) says,
let the dead bury their own dead. Let the world (the spiritually dead) take care of mundane things.
While the Preacher's commentary says,
The second man who addressed Jesus is said to have been one of His disciples. The request, "Let me first go and bury my father" meant that he wished to remain with his parents until fulfilling their occupational expectations. This might have taken several years, and Jesus' mission was now! The words, "Let the dead bury their own dead" are a word-picture. They may mean to let the spiritually dead bury their physical dead. However, the meaning could be better expressed, "Let that which is a part of the dying order of the age die, and follow me." Jesus' call has priority. Jesus called disciples and asked them to put Him and His will above all else.
Thus it seems that soul sleep is not the lens through which this passage is most profitably read by those who trust in Christ.
So let's just be clear on this. You're saying that the Saints didn't die? Yes or no please.
Most of the saints died a physical death only to be found alive in Christ as Jesus promised Martha, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" but some did not die, such as Enoch and Elijah. So the answer to your "yes or no" question is both yes and no. You really ought to allow the scriptures to speak as they speak and not try to constrict them to fit a pattern of thinking that suits your doctrine.

PS: My NAB has this note for Matthew 8:22 Let the dead bury their dead: the demand of Jesus overrides what both the Jewish and the Hellenistic world regarded as a filial obligation of the highest importance.

Sorry MC but it stands on its own quite well. The idea of an immortal soul is the foundation upon which you support this teaching. That of course go directly against what scripture says:

Gen 3:19 ...for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

You missed the point entirely, and FYI, I don't subscribe to hardly anything John McArthur teaches. He fails the Isa 8:20 test as well. That said, the point I was making is just as we know Jesus wasn't literally talking about dead people buring dead people, we can know that He wasn't stating that the partriarchs were alive.

Yes and no? Sounds a whole lot like they did not surely die. Wonder where I've heard that before.

You really ought to allow the scriptures to speak as they speak and not try to constrict them to fit a pattern of thinking that suits your doctrine.

Gen 3:19 - In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Deut 31:16 - And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them

2 Samuel 7:12 - And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom

1 Kings 1:21 - Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.

MAtt 9:24 - He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

Ecc 9:5 - For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

So if we allow the bible to speak for itself as you say, we can see that it compares death to sleep. Now let's look at that in light of Jesus words "He is no the God of the dead, but of the living."

Given that all scripture works in harmony together, and no one text contradicts another, we would be at a dilema if we applied human reasoning. But instead let's look at this from God's perspective as it is given. For those who are in Christ, our life is hidden with Him, as Paul puts it. This means that when we die, we are not set to be destroyed by hell fire, but instead are simply awaitng the resurrection to eternal life. So just like someone who is sleeping await the dawn, so the dead in Christ await the coming of the Sun of Righteousness, who will awake them at the final trumpet. For this reason we are said to be asleep.

This would mean that Jesus when speaking of the Patriarchs looked at them the same way that he looked at the maid. Simply asleep, awaiting their call to eternal life.

P.S if you applied the Isa 8:20 test to your teaching about an immortal soul, you wouldn't be so confused.

He named Peter and said he would build His Church upon Peter.

I have a problem with the above interpretation when I look at the original Greek of the scripture you are referring to or other occurrences of the word "rock".

1) The Greek text does not show one same word for "Peter" and "rock". Rather, two different words are used in Matthew 16:18 :"And I also say to you that you are Peter (petros), and upon this rock (petra) I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."
Matthew 16:18 Greek Text Analysis

2) Here are a few other occurrences of the word "rock" :
Deut. 63:4 "He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He."

2 Sam. 22:2, "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;"

Psalm 18:31: "For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?

Isaiah 44:8: "Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one."

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. - Luke 22:32

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: - Acts 2

The cornerstone is the most important part of the building. As Peter was the first one converted he was the first stone to be laid in the building of a great foundation, which is Jesus Christ. I believe Peter was converted when the Holy Spirit fell on him in Acts chapter two and he preached the first sermon there. So I believe Peter is indeed Petros, the Cornerstone, and Christ is Petra, the foundation.

I clipped your post so as to avoid forays into soul sleep theology, which is one of the errors in the list - I think it is
#53 Soul Sleep: Death is an unconscious, sleep-like state. When Jesus Christ comes again, He will resurrect the dead who believe in Him and will take them to heaven. The dead who are unbelievers will be resurrected 1000 years later.

Anyway, "let the dead bury their dead" doesn't help you with your claim that the dead are asleep (unconscious) in Christ.

Don't forget that Peter called the elders (plural) of Asia Minor and gave them the same instruction (1 Peter 5). Thus goes the lineage.

Who is the rock? The Lord or Peter?

So I will call you Peter, which means "a rock." On this rock I will build my church, and death itself will not have any power over it. (Matthew 16:18)

Peter is the Rock in Matthew 16:18. Peter's name was Simon, that's mentioned in verse 16. Jesus renamed Simon; he named him Cephas (kepha) which is Aramaic for Rock. The passage in Greek says,
καγω δε σοι λεγω οτι συ ει πετρος και επι ταυτη τη πετρα οικοδομησω μου την εκκλησιαν και πυλαι αδου ου κατισχυσουσιν αυτης
It is, as the reader can see, written in Koine Greek rather than in Classic (Attic) Greek. In Koine Greek πετρος means exactly what πετρα means except that πετρα is feminine while πετρος is masculine. Naturally Peter is named πετρος because he is a male. The Rock is called πετρα because the earth is thought of as female in Greek. You can verify that in any good dictionary of Koine Greek written once it was recognised that Koine was a distinct dialect and was not the same as Attic Greek.

My NAB footnote says,
You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church: the Aramaic word kēpā’ meaning rock and transliterated into Greek as CĒphas is the name by which Peter is called in the Pauline letters (1 Cor 1:12; 3:22; 9:5; 15:4; Gal 1:18; 2:9, 11, 14) except in Gal 2:7–8 (“Peter&#8221. It is translated as Petros (“Peter&#8221 in Jn 1:42. The presumed original Aramaic of Jesus’ statement would have been, in English, “You are the Rock (Kēpā&#8217 and upon this rock (kēpā&#8217 I will build my church.” The Greek text probably means the same, for the difference in gender between the masculine noun petros, the disciple’s new name, and the feminine noun petra (rock) may be due simply to the unsuitability of using a feminine noun as the proper name of a male. Although the two words were generally used with slightly different nuances, they were also used interchangeably with the same meaning, “rock.” Church: this word (Greek ekklēsia) occurs in the gospels only here and in Mt 18:17 (twice). There are several possibilities for an Aramaic original. Jesus’ church means the community that he will gather and that, like a building, will have Peter as its solid foundation. That function of Peter consists in his being witness to Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the living God. The gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it: the netherworld (Greek Hadēs, the abode of the dead) is conceived of as a walled city whose gates will not close in upon the church of Jesus, i.e., it will not be overcome by the power of death.
Wikipedia says the following about Koine Greek.
Koiné (from κοινή "common", also known as Alexandrian dialect, common Attic or Hellenistic Greek) was the common supra-regional form of Greek spoken and written during hellenistic and Roman antiquity. It developed through the spread of Greek following the conquests of Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC, and served as the common lingua franca of much of the Mediterranean region and the Middle East during the following centuries. Based mainly on Attic and related Ionic speech forms, with various admixtures brought about through dialect levelling with other varieties, Koiné Greek displayed a wide spectrum of different styles, ranging from more conservative literary forms to the spoken vernaculars of the time. As the dominant language of the Byzantine Empire it developed further into Medieval Greek, the main ancestor of Modern Greek, with about the year 600 marking the boundary between the two.

Literary Koiné was the medium of much of post-classical Greek literary and scholarly writing, such as the works of Plutarch and Polybius. Koiné is also the language of the Christian New Testament, of the Septuagint (the 3rd-century BC Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible), and of most early Christian theological writing by the Church Fathers. In this context, Koiné Greek is also known as "Biblical", "New Testament" or "patristic Greek". -- Wikipedia

Because all men are fallen, and he had no choice. (Why would Jesus appoint Judas an apostle when he knew Judas would betray Him?) Humanity demanded the Holy Spirit to guide His Church. When one comes to join the Church they profess belief in Christ, and all He said, part of which is that Peter would be the leader of His church. You believe that's flawed? Well then!
I've shown texts where Jesus promised the Holy Spirit and sent the Holy Spirit to guide His Church. Why would he leave it to mere humanity?
Matt. 16:18 - Jesus promises the gates of Hades would never prevail against the Church.
Matt. 16:19 - for Jesus to give Peter and the apostles, mere human beings, the authority to bind in heaven what they bound on earth requires infallibility. This is a gift of the Holy Spirit and has nothing to do with the holiness of the person receiving the gift.
John 14:16 - Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit would be with the Church forever. The Spirit prevents the teaching of error on faith and morals.
John 14:26 - Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit would teach the Church (the apostles and successors) all things regarding the faith.
John 16:13 - Jesus promises that the Spirit will "guide" the Church into all truth.
Jesus appointed apostles, right? When Judas killed himself, the first thing the apostles did was appoint a successor. Paul, who was appointed by Christ (and ordained by the other apostles), writes to Timothy, whom he appointed bishop. This shows succession. So since Christ appointed Peter to be his representative on Earth, when Peter was martyred, the Church in Rome did the same thing-appointed a successor.
When did He do such a thing? Where in the scripture did Christ establish the office of Pope and declare it to be holy along with the one who occupies it's seat?
Matt 16:18-20. The language there comes from Isaiah 22.

The one Church is the bride of Christ. Where does it say Christ will have seven wives?

Regarding persecution, we have lots of documentation about Protestant persecutions of Catholics, particularly in England. Here's one account:
The martyr began in this order : First, in the hearing of them all, she prayed for the Catholic Church, then for the Pope's Holiness, Cardinals, and other Fathers which have charge of souls, and then for all Christian princes. At which words the tormentors interrupted her, and willed her not to put her Majesty among that company; yet the martyr proceeded in this order: ‘And especially for Elizabeth, Queen of England, that God move her to the Catholic Faith, and that after this mortal life she may receive the blessed joys of heaven; for I wish as much good,’ quoth she, ‘to her Majesty's soul as to mine own.’ Sheriff Gibson, abhorring the cruel fact, stood weeping at the door. Then said Fawcet, ‘Mrs. Clitheroe, you must remember and confess that you die for treason.’ The martyr answered, ‘No, no, Mr. Sheriff; I die for the love of my Lord Jesu;’ which last words she spake with a loud voice. Then Fawcet commanded her to put off her apparel, ‘For you must die,’ said he, ‘naked, as judgment was given and pronounced against you.’. . .The women took off her clothes and put upon her the long habit of linen. Then very quietly she laid her down upon the ground, her face covered with a handkerchief, the linen habit being placed over her as far as it could reach, all the rest of her body being naked. The door was laid upon her, her hands she joined towards her face. Then the Sheriff said, ‘Nay, you must have your hands bound.’ The martyr put forth her hands over the door still joined. Then two sergeants parted them, and with the inkle strings which she had prepared for that purpose bound them to two posts, so that her body and her arms made a perfect cross. They willed her again to ask the Queen's Majesty's forgiveness and to pray for her. The martyr said she had prayed for her. They also willed her to ask her husband's forgiveness. The martyr said, ‘ If ever I have offended him, but for my conscience, I ask him forgiveness.’After this they laid weight upon her, which, when she first felt, she said, ‘Jesu! Jesu! Jesu! have mercy upon me!’ which were the last words which she was heard to speak. She was in dying one quarter of an hour. A sharp stone, as much as a man's fist, was put under her back ; upon her was laid a quantity of seven or eight hundredweight at the least [406 Kgs/896 lbs], which breaking her ribs, caused them to burst forth of the skin.St. Margaret Clitherow is "pressed" to death. Thus most gloriously this gracious martyr overcame all her enemies, passing [from] this mortal life with marvelous triumph into the peaceable city of God, there to receive a worthy crown of endless immortality and joy.' * - See more at: Transalpine Redemptorists at home: The bloody Protestant persecution of Catholics

I wonder, would it be fair to add "confusing infallible with impeccable" to the list. It seems to be such a common misconception in GT and elsewhere.

There's also the notion that "infallibility means everything that the pope says is pefect" which is also rather common in GT. Would that be a fair addition too?
  1. A bible with only 66 books.
  2. Saint Paul's letters are not inspired.
  3. Sola Scriptura - In English "Scripture alone" is the theory (unsupported by sacred scripture) that "all things necessary for God's glory, man's salvation, faith and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: to which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or apostolic tradition".
  4. Prima Scriptura - A doctrine teaching that besides canonical scripture, there are other guides for what a believer should believe, and how he or she should live; the ways of knowing or understanding God and his will, that do not originate from canonized scripture, are in a second place, perhaps helpful in interpreting that scripture, but testable by the canon and correctable by it, if they seem to contradict the scriptures.[Editorial note: in many ways Prima Scriptura is an improvement over sola scriptura, it does, however, suffer from the core disadvantage of sola scriptura in that it is neither a teaching of scripture itself nor does it adequately deal with Apostolic Tradition and Magisterial authority.]
  5. Personal interpretation of scripture as normative for individual faith content determination.
  6. Arminianism.
Arminianism is based on the theological ideas of the previously Dutch Reformed theologian Jacobus Arminius (1560–1609) and his historic supporters known as the Remonstrants. ... They asserted that:
    1. election (and condemnation on the day of judgment) was conditioned by the rational faith or nonfaith of man;
    2. the Atonement, while qualitatively adequate for all men, is efficacious only for the man of faith;
    3. unaided by the Holy Spirit, no person is able to respond to God’s will;
    4. grace is resistible; and
    5. believers are able to resist sin but are not beyond the possibility of falling from grace.
  7. Faith alone - In Latin "sola fide" is the theory (unsupported by scripture fact) that salvation is obtained by faith alone.
  8. Antinomianism.
In Christianity, an antinomian is "one who holds that under the gospel dispensation of grace the moral law is of no use or obligation because faith alone is necessary to salvation". ... Antinomianism in modern times is commonly seen as the theological opposite to Legalism or Works righteousness, the notion that obedience to religious law earns salvation. This makes antinomianism an exaggeration of justification by faith alone. -- Wikipedia
  9. Total depravity - one of the five points of Calvinism (All human beings are affected by sin in every area of thought and conduct so that nothing that comes out of anyone apart from the regenerating grace of God can please God. As far as our relationships to God are concerned, we are all so ruined by sin that no one can properly understand either God or God's ways. Nor do we seek God, unless He is first at work within us to lead us to do so).
  10. Unconditional election - second point of Calvinism (If sinners are as helpless in their depravity as the Bible says they are, unable to know and unwilling to seek God, then the only way they could possibly be saved is for God to take the initiative to change and save them. This is what election means. It is God choosing to save those who, apart from His sovereign choice and subsequent action, certainly would perish.).
  11. Limited atonement - third point of Calvinism (Reformed theology stresses that Jesus actually atoned for the sins of those the Father had chosen. He actually propitiated the wrath of God toward His people by taking their judgment upon Himself, actually redeemed them, and actually reconciled those specific persons to God. A better name for "limited" atonement would be "particular" or "specific" redemption.).
  12. Irresistible grace - fourth point of Calvinism (When God works in our hearts, regenerating us and creating a renewed will within, then what was undesirable before becomes highly desirable, and we run to Jesus just as previously we ran away from Him. Fallen sinners do resist God's grace, but His regenerating grace is effectual. It overcomes sin and accomplishes God's purpose).
  13. Perseverance of the saints - the fifth point of Calvinism (You cannot lose your salvation. Because the Father has elected, the Son has redeemed, and the Holy Spirit has applied salvation, those thus saved are eternally secure. They are eternally secure in Christ. Some of the verses for this position are John 10:27-28 where Jesus said His sheep will never perish; John 6:47 where salvation is described as everlasting life; Romans 8:1 where it is said we have passed out of judgment; 1 Corinthians 10:13 where God promises to never let us be tempted beyond what we can handle; and Phil. 1:6 where God is the one being faithful to perfect us until the day of Jesus’ return.)
  14. Once saved always saved.
    1. Once saved always saved even when one denies the faith some time after being saved.
    2. Rededications even though once saved always saved.
  15. Double predestination. [In the Reformed view God from all eternity decrees some to election and positively intervenes in their lives to work regeneration and faith by a monergistic work of grace. To the non-elect God withholds this monergistic work of grace, passing them by and leaving them to themselves. He does not monergistically work sin or unbelief in their lives. Even in the case of the "hardening" of the sinners' already recalcitrant hearts, God does not, as Luther stated, "work evil in us (for hardening is working evil) by creating fresh evil in us." -- R. C. Sproul]
  16. Lapsarianism:The logical order of God's decrees in Calvinist theology is the study of the logical order (in God's mind, before Creation) of the decree to ordain or allow the fall of man and reprobation in relation to his decree to elect and save sinners. Several opposing positions have been proposed, all of which have names with the Latin root lapsus meaning fall.
    1. Supralapsaranism.
    2. Infralapsarianism/Sublapsarianism.
  17. Penal substitutionary atonement - A widespread Reformed conception of the Atonement is that in Christ’s Passion and death, God the Father poured out all of His wrath for the sins of the elect, on Christ the Son. In Christ’s Passion and death, Christ bore the punishment of the Father’s wrath that the elect deserved for their sins.
  18. Ordinances/Anti-sacramentalism.
  19. Infant dedication (not baptism) in a worship-service. [This is a common practise in many groups but rarely has a formal doctrine accompanying it as an explanation of why it is done.]
  20. It isn't baptism unless one is submerged.
  21. Only people old enough to say the sinner's prayer can be baptised.
  22. One is born again by saying & believing the sinner's prayer (or a near equivalent).
  23. Believer's baptism as a public testimony to one's faith but not as the washing away of one's sins nor as the means by which God brings about the birth from above.
  24. Covenant baptism as a sign and symbol of inclusion into the new covenant community but not as the means by which God gives sanctifying grace.
  25. The Lord's supper as sign and symbol but not as the body and blood of the Lord.
  26. Two greater and five lesser Sacraments
  27. Dispensing with baptism and the Lord's supper altogether. [A few groups have dropped all sacraments.]
  28. The rapture
    1. A pre tribulation rapture.
    2. A mid tribulation rapture.
    3. A post tribulation rapture.
  29. A future seven year reign of anti-christ with three and a half years of Israelite temple worship.
  30. Dispensationalism: scripture must be rightly divided by applying a scheme of dispensations to it; usually seven dispensations are taken as normative but other additional dispensations are sometimes included.
  31. The sermon on the mount as "old testament teaching" that's not applicable under the new covenant.
  32. Sermon centric worship - being an explanation of the meaning of the text of scripture or a lesson on morals or doctrine for the instruction of the congregation - is the central act of worship in the gathering of the Lord's people on the Lord's day.
  33. The One True Church is not a visible institution.
    1. The One True Church is made up of all true believers scattered throughout all denominations.
  34. Denominationalism.
  35. Rejection of the threefold office in the church. Deacon, Presbyter, and Bishop are the offices identified in sacred scripture and present in the church from the beginning. Some protestant bodies reduce this to Deacon and Elder some to Deacon and Pastor and some teach Deacon, Elder, and Pastor with Pastor distinguished only by being the "teaching elder" in a congregation.
  36. Rejection of clerical laity distinction in the church.
  37. The pulpit ought to be the focus of a church building's architecture and the table for use on communion ought to be to the side or located in a different part of the church because there is no altar in the church and no sacrifice is made in a church service.
  38. Equivocating "worship" and "worship service" - meaning that worship in a small group consisting of two or more is the same as the 'worship service' one would normally experience on a Sunday in a church [building]. [Not a formal doctrine but a widely held view of Christian worship among some of those in denominations and also some in non-denominational and other groups.]
  39. Lone ranger Christianity - the belief that one need not be associated with any church or group. While this is not a denominational belief it is sufficiently widespread to make a kind of theology of its own.
  40. Emerging church movement; Emerging churches are fluid, hard to define, and varied; they contrast themselves with what has gone before by using the term "inherited church." Key themes of the emerging church are couched in the language of reform, Praxis-oriented lifestyles, Post-evangelical thought, and incorporation or acknowledgement of political and Post-modern elements. ... -- from Wikipedia
  41. Prosperity gospel: Prosperity theology (sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, or the gospel of success) is a Christian religious doctrine that financial blessing is the will of God for Christians, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to Christian ministries will always increase one's material wealth.
  42. Congregations electing their ministers.
  43. Seeker sensitive churches.
  44. Accountability partners.
  45. Altar calls.
  46. Church discipline effectively nullified because of the difficulty of enforcement in a multi-denominational community.
  47. Temperance movement. ... Alcohol is wicked, "a devil's brew".
  48. Old covenant Dietary laws applied to new covenant Christians: Christians shall have no shellfish, crustaceans, pork, or any 'unclean meat' because they are forbidden in the Law of Moses.
  49. The papacy is the antichrist.
  50. A specific pope will be the antichrist.
  51. Michael the Archangel and Jesus being the same person.
  52. Heaven being in the Orion nebula.
  53. Soul Sleep: Death is an unconscious, sleep-like state. When Jesus Christ comes again, He will resurrect the dead who believe in Him and will take them to heaven. The dead who are unbelievers will be resurrected 1000 years later.
  54. For a period of a thousand years the earth will be utterly desolate and only Satan and his angels will be on earth. At the end of the thousand years the the Holy City in heaven will descend to earth. The unrighteous dead will be resurrected and with Satan and his angels, they will surround the Holy City to attack God and His people. God will destroy Satan and his followers, hence removing sin forever.
  55. Trail of blood - also known as Baptist successionism. It is the theory (unsupported by fact) that Jesus Christ is the founder of the Baptist denomination (Which in fact started around 1605 AD in England).
  56. The Jesuit oath - An absurd fake oath that among other things says "make and wage relentless war, secretly and openly, against all heretics, Protestants and Masons".
  57. Oneness (denying the Trinity) - some might think this is a non-christian sect's doctrine while others are inclined to believe that Oneness Pentecostalism is within the confines of Christianity.

Mercy you're good at avoiding questions. You said that you don't pray to the dead. Logically that would mean that your saints never died. So if "assumption" is the wrong word then please explain to me what happened to them.
Souls do not die. Bodies die. The Saints in heaven are alive.
