A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.

I've thought a lot on this lately. It takes a whole lot of money to have enough not only for your own children, but your grandchildren.

I also think the heritage of faith we leave is vitally important. It will outlast the money, and enable them to obtain more. Faith is profitable in all things.

As for the second part, hope they stay busy laying it up for me.

Yes, teaching them in the way they should go!

There is a story in Genesis about God bringing the children of Israel out into the wilderness and the fear that kept driving them to act out and whine to Moses (and Him).

At one point they were using their children and their needs, almost trying to manipulate God into acting for the sake of the children and God finally, in anger, said (to the effect of)

"You're so worried about the kids? You think I don't care? About My children? Fine -- you will not make it into the promised land but your kids will."

I can relate to this because I've sometimes felt like maybe there wasn't enough to provide for her, to leave for her... and then I realize that the "poverty mentality" does not belong in a child of faith.

I WILL leave an inheritance to my daughter... and her daughter...

" 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.

This was a remark to the Non-Prodigal son, and it really struck me: we have not had to go through poverty and returned to beg for servant-hood... we are ALWAYS with Him and ALL HE HAS IS OURS! We are in our Father's house.

That's right. He gave us the most valuable thing of all - His precious Son.

One thing's for sure - God is not holding out on us.

I want to live to the fullest, abandoning all. Loving God & others will all that is within me... knowing I gave everything. Our love for God & others is expressed through how we use our resources, talents, time, etc. There are so many missionaries in need, starving families in need, people without access to decent healthcare, etc etc etc. Also, our time is just as important as our money. Sometimes it takes a greater sacrifice to give of our time than of our money. JOY=Jesus, Other, and then yourself. In America when we give, we give out of our abundance. Does giving ever actually cause a sacrifice? Usually it doesn't cause any sort of lifestyle change. I want to challenge myself to give more... to love more.

Yes, it is. Every time we talk about money we must keep things in context. Why does God want to prosper me? He blesses us to BE a blessing.

I started the thread to build our faith in this area. The devil would lie to us about what God says about prospering. As for prosperity, God goes way beyond money alone when He defines prosperity. Financial prosperity alone will ruin a fool, according to Proverbs.

Yes, I have given sacrificially more than once, a gift that cost me a great deal. I've never forgotten what Jesus said when the widow women threw into the treasury two mites, all she had. She gave MORE than the rich who threw in out of their abundance. It's all about ratio when it comes to giving. And the attitude of the heart.

I am not a WOF believer, but I am pentecostal. I like what you said & I sometimes wonder why some would not want to give. When you put things into perspective... this life is so short. We would be foolish to hoard our resources (financial & otherwise) when we could be doing awesome things for the kingdom! We can be so selfish sometimes. I know this is not the point of the thread, so I will allow it to get back on it's original school of thought!
