The Lord speaks to every single one of us in the quiet of our hearts. Should we spend time to get to know our Lord, our God, our Father, we will learn to recognize this still small voice. The Word of the Lord is not meant for just a handful of selected 'prophets', but is given to all of us by His Holy Spirit, who teaches us of all things and reveals to us the will of our Lord. For the children of God are a holy nation, a nation of priests.

You can all hear the Word of the Lord for yourselves... you just need to spend time with Him to hear His voice. Expect Him to speak to you, as a loving Father does.

Think of it this way: Jesus Christ while He was on earth, walked with His disciples and taught them of many things. When He left this earth to join Father, He did not leave us as orphans, but gave us the Holy Spirit so that we could still be in direct contact with Him. And as Jesus Christ would teach the disciples on earth, so we can expect the Holy Spirit to teach us of the things He hears each day. Jesus Christ is Emmanuel, and He will walk with us always.

So isn't it better to seek the Lord and hear Him firsthand, than to hear Him through the mouth of another? Please consider very carefully what you ask for when requesting a word. The Lord has given you His Holy Spirit to speak to you always, and it is in His will to teach you further. Please seek Him first, before looking to others to seek Him for you... for in a way, it would be quenching the Spirit of the Lord in your life should you leave it to others.

Peace in Christ,

Soulwings

I dont believe anyone here is going to any man of flesh before they are seaking the Lord.
What they are asking for is words from the Holy Spirit from their brothers and sisters that will edify them and strengthen them so as to face one more day in this world.
What is really sad is that they have to ask for words that edify.
They shouldnt have to ask they should just be able to recieve words that edify, but no we are to busy puting others down or proving who is wrong and who is right, proving this doctrine right or this doctrine wrong , remember we assemble so as to worship God and edify one another thats the way it is suposed to be according to scipture.
we are suposed to be able to turn to our brothers and our sisters and say help the world is beating me up do you have words that will lift and strengthen me and then we move with words according to the Spirits guidence to edify our sisters and brothers. its called unity among the Body. Its called Loving our brothers and sisters.
You know why its a small group that helps others its because its a small group that cares that will reach out with a hand and say here , here are the words the Holy Spirit has given me to share with you because thats what we do as a deciple of Christ we help edify our brothers and sisters.
NOBODY IS WRONG FOR ASKING FOR WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THE SPIRIT.
WHAT IS WRONG IS THEY HAVE TO ASK AND THAT SO FEW ARE WILLING TO HELP.
Or even worse yet make them feel guilty for asking.
So my advice is instead of adding more grief to their soul by placing guilt upon them we reach out and edify them with words from the Holy Spirit. Just my thoughts for what that is worth !! Rod

I do not beleive that our God tricks us or is a pun artist.

No, I don't think God tricks us, either.

But He does have a way of getting us going...

Years ago He told me that I would teach. Well, I felt overwhelmed. Who would want a woman to teach anyway? I ran.

When I had finished running, He called me again. Except that now He just told me to study the Word, that He was going to use me. So I studied the Word. Years went by.

Then somehow I got the idea that I was supposed to teach. Not kids, adults. And I had it on my heart to teach new believers, maybe for just a couple of months, just to get them started.

So I started teaching. Then one of the other adult Sunday school classes folded, and then suddenly everyone was in my class, not just new believers. That was in 1999. I am still teaching today.

So, no, God, didn't trick me. But He helped me overcome my fear by giving me small steps to take.

God is so awesome.

Hi. I'm new to this thread. I read the op, and several posts on page 1, a few pages in between, the last page, and though I admit I didn't read the whole thread since there are now over 500 posts, I've yet to see a prophetic word!

:o Is it just me, or did anyone else get the idea that this thread was to post prophetic words? Therefore, assuming it is, should I, would anyone like for me, to share a word the Lord put on my heart the other night? I'm sure it will minister to someone.

CindyisHis~

I can understand that if you only looked on those few pages that you'd miss all the prophetic words given on this thread. I've just spent about 2 hrs or so going through the whole thread and recording the post numbers and pages of all the posts that fit the description of the OP. There are probably some I missed, but I found 88 posts that I would consider prophetic.

If you'd like to check them out, I have made a list...just let me know. There are MANY awesome words given.

Would love to hear what the Lord has told you. Please share with us.

CindyisHis has not answered yet.. but perhaps you could share what you consider prophetic sister.. or at least show me if what I think is prophetic is prophetic at all..

I am interested.. seeing this thread is for practicing the prophetic.. I think it would be good if we all who come.. could know what is exactly a prophetic word..Or what the view of those who believe they are gifted that way is..

I have given a word here.. just recently.. and although I don't know if it helped the one whom I gave it too.. Someone else wrote and thanked me for giving it.. And I don't know.. I was encouraged by that and I think that what they said to me.. has led me to view a whole new way to operate in spiritual matters.. I see that just in the giving without fear.. opened the door for the Spirit.. and also that we can use our faith and what God has shown us to open someone else's spiritual eyes..

I didn't allow fear to stop me.. I took it from my own experience with the Lord.. What came to my heart at the time.. So many times people have said things to me.. and they were the right words for the right times..

Are these what you would call prophetic words??

One lady wrote this on the bottom of a card she sent.. the Lord will provide.. Now she doesn't usually write stuff like that.. Just usually writes what needs to be said.. and that is it..

And again another friend.. told me the same thing.. and she doesn't usually say those things either..

And then again my own sister said it too.. and at the time those things were said.. I was waiting on the Lord for financial needs.. and perhaps was a little worried that God come through and how.. but He did!! Praise God and those three avenues.. backed up Gods promise to me that He was going to come through..

Is that what you would call prophetic?? I tend to move in encouragement... many times I have done things without knowing what a person needs but just moving as I felt.. and it really helped the person!! Praise God.. \0/ I love it.. someone asked recently if I moved in the prophetic.. and I think God is using me in that too.. but I don't know.. I mean I haven't said something that has come to pass yet that I know.. but I am seeing that I can be bold and that God will back me up if I can move that way..

One thing that encouraged me.. was a word from a health worker who talked to me after I miscarried.. She said.. Sharon I will see you back here in 12 months..

And you know what?? I did come back in 12 months and I had a little baby girl to show her!! Was that prophetic?? I don't know how she knew.. or even that she did.. but I took those words to heart and they gave me such hope.. and I kept remembering them when I was crying out to God for another baby.. and God answered us with a girl.. I had three boys and 1 girl.. and 1 boy in heaven.. but I wanted a girl.. and God gave me a girl.. Praise God \0/

Sorry this is rather long.. It is just all bubbling out today.. right now anyway.. I want God to use me in every sense.. and I want to know if I am on the right track!!

Yes!!! I very much believe that you are on the right track. I'd also like to point out, however, that speaking a "prophetic word" does NOT always have to be about something that is yet to happen. Prophetic words are also words that the Holy Spirit gives us to encourage, edify, exhort and teach others. They are words given by the Holy Spirit and NOT from out of our own thoughts and heart. I hope this makes sense to you. Just remain open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. I have found at times that I am given very specific messages to give to very specific people here in our town. I have yet to receive specific words for people here on-line in this forum. I am willing....and that is what God seeks for us ....is to be willing to be used of Him for His purposes.

May God Bless You as you continue your journey in this new place.

Thank you..

For the interest and perhaps growth of others who are seeking all things to do with the prophetic..

I went in search of what prophecy and prophesy means.. using the blue letter bible.. on these two scriptures..

Acts 2:17
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

The greek meaning for this word used in this verse prophesy.. is
prophēteuō
and it means..
) to prophesy, to be a prophet, speak forth by divine inspirations, to predict
a) to prophesy
b) with the idea of foretelling future events pertaining esp. to the kingdom of God
c) to utter forth, declare, a thing which can only be known by divine revelation
d) to break forth under sudden impulse in lofty discourse or praise of the divine counsels
1) under like prompting, to teach, refute, reprove, admonish, comfort others
e) to act as a prophet, discharge the prophetic office

And for this scripture..

Romans 12:6
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith;

prophēteia meaning prophecy

1) prophecy
a) a discourse emanating from divine inspiration and declaring the purposes of God, whether by reproving and admonishing the wicked, or comforting the afflicted, or revealing things hidden; esp. by foretelling future events
b) Used in the NT of the utterance of OT prophets
1) of the prediction of events relating to Christ's kingdom and its speedy triumph, together with the consolations and admonitions pertaining to it, the spirit of prophecy, the divine mind, to which the prophetic faculty is due
2) of the endowment and speech of the Christian teachers called prophets
3) the gifts and utterances of these prophets, esp. of the predictions of the works of which, set apart to teach the gospel, will accomplish for the kingdom of Christ

Hi there peacechild. I only found conversation on this thread. As I said, I did not read through all 526 posts! But I read a few pages and found conversation.

What do I consider prophetic words?
1 Corinthians 14:3 and he who is prophesying to men doth speak edification, and exhortation, and comfort;

I believe a word from the Lord does just that. I believe it is from the written word of God, spoken spontaneously by the Spirit of God in that moment.

As I was simply sharing a psalm on my heart a few nights ago, here http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=34595266&page=55,
when the Lord moved on me and I went on to share what He was saying. I had not planned it. It simply rose out of my spirit. I yielded to it, and delivered the word.

Sure CindyisHis come on in ... I thought I gave examples of prophecy.

Share away
As I said, I only read a few pages. My bad.
Wow, Nancy! Thank you so much for taking 2 hours!!! Yes, yes, yes! Please point them out to me.

It wasn't that the conversation I happened on was not interesting, I just didn't have that kind of time then to go through the whole thread. I appreciate you, who has been on the thread, going through and finding the prophetic words. Thank you so much!

Here's the word that came the other night.

I feel prompted to share a portion of this psalm.

Psalm 24: 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
The LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah

I believe the Lord is saying here in this moment...

I have a door for you to walk through, and I also desire to walk through the door you would open to Me. I stand at the door and knock. Open, and I will come in. I will commune with You, taking You into the secret place sharing the secret counsels of My heart, sharing wisdom and a host of treasures for you. I have a table spread before you. Though it is in the midst of your enemies, do not fear, they will not harm you. Nothing shall harm you, for I am with you.

...thus says the King of Glory, the Lord of Host, the Mighty One.

Would anyone like to give me a word for my 20th birthday?
Well, I am boldly stepping out. This is the first time I have ever had a word arise from within at the request of an individual. I am going to obey in faith, because we are told not to quench the Spirit or to despise prohecy in 1 Thes. 5.

Here's what I believe the Lord is saying dear sweet girl.

My sweet, sweet daughter, you are My treasure. You bring me much delight. You thirst for Me, and that is treasured by Me. I will fill, I will fill, I will fill your thirsty heart. Continue in your hunger and thirst. Continue in your pursuit. Don't let the things of this world pull your attention off of Me, for I have wonderful plans for you. I have plans to prosper you. I have a good path for you. Hold fast, walk closely, choose your friends wisely. Keep your heart tender and yielding. Listen to the counsel of those with wisdom. Honor those in authority over you. Esteem them highly.

Thank You CindyisHis for sharing that.. what God put on your heart.. We do not know the implications of what we do.. when we share what is brought to our heart!! But God uses our obedience and especially blesses us when we use our faith and are not witheld from speaking due to fear.. And it is promised that the word that goes out of His mouth.. (coming from our mouth) will not return to Him void..

Father I ask that this Word that CindyIsHis has shared would prosper as You please for the reason it was sent!! amen

Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

I have the gift of prophecy, and I can tell you how it works for me. It's just like speaking in tongues, only it comes out in English. It is often preceded by a brief utterance in tongues. The first thing the Lord ever told me this way was "Hush." I would be praying in tongues and be distressed by some negative thought, and the Holy Spirit would say "Hush." It would come out of my mouth just as the tongues were coming out, without any interruption or anything. It was always very comforting, and no louder than a whisper. Anyway, this is how prophecy works for me. I have found that, generally, people who don't have this gift don't understand how it works.
