The Lord loves you, He really does, you have to start believing it.

God is for you, He is not against you.

He has not shown it, though I believe it.
He does not supply our needs. I have done nothing to cause that.

Our faith is based upon what has been written in the Bible. There is no other foundation. Faith that is based on our senses is not faith, it is presumption. Faith in what we see, hear, or feel is unreliable and can lead us to unbelief. Unbelief is deciding not to believe what is written in the Bible about what God has promised us. Therefore, people who behave as though they have faith, but base it on their senses experience, are fooling themselves and are caught up in presumption. Therefore God's promises stand true and sure, no matter what our actual experience of life is, because the Bible says so.

God does not always have to show us that He is there for us. Often He deliberately hides His face from us to test us to see whether our faith is based upon His Word, or on our senses. It is easy to have faith in favourable circumstances; it is harder to have faith in unfavourable circumstances; but the hardest of all is to have faith when there are no circumstances at all. God often takes away positive circumstances from us to test whether we can maintain our faith when the going gets tough. He also takes all the circumstances away from us so there is nothing - this is to see whether we can maintain our faith in Him on the basis of His Word alone.

Is God a liar? Is His Word false? That is the challenge He throws out to you. Just because you cannot see the goodness of God with your eyes, you seem to be saying that God is a liar. But doesn't Jesus say that He is the Truth? Then how can He be a liar. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, so then how can He lie?

How do we know that God is there for us, no matter what our circumstances are? Because His Word says so. He has given us His Word and He watches over it to perform it. God is faithful. How do we know that God is faithful? Because His Word says so. So, is the Bible true or false?

The Bible says "Let God be true and every man a liar." This means that in comparison to everything else in the world, including us, God is absolutely true. Therefore He cannot be a liar. He cannot do anything else but tell the truth. Therefore the Bible promises are the truest statements in the whole universe, because they are spoken by a God who cannot lie.

It is true that you cannot make God keep His Word, because He is our model of integrity. The Bible says, "God is faith and also will do what He has promised." But He does not limit Himself to our time frame. He fulfils His promises in His own time - the right time. King Saul lost his kingdom and his salvation because he was not patient enough to wait when Samuel did not return when he thought he should. There is a lesson for us there. God does not always come through for us when we think He should, and we are tempted (by the devil) in starting to ask ourselves, "Has God really said... Has He really promised...?" just like the serpent in the Garden of Eden when he asked Eve, "Has God really said that you will die if you eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?" The whole of mankind fell into sin because Eve doubted what God had said to her. Doubting the statement that God had made, just because it did not agree with what she saw and heard brought the greatest catastophe that mankind has ever experienced, and God had to send His own Son to die on the cross to put it right.

Therefore deciding not to believe the statements in God's word can have catastrophic effects on lives, and can make the difference between heaven and hell for many people.

The psalmist in his lowest state said (Psalm 42): "Why are you cast down, O my soul? Hope thou in God, for I will yet praise him." He could not praise God at that moment, but he told his soul that God's promises are true and the day will come when he will be able to praise God again. Until that time came, he knew that he needed to wait before God in hope and faith. There is also a lesson in that for us as well.

Let me get this straight. Are you therefore basing your faith on the life experience of people, rather than on the statements of God's Word?

Oh boy! I hope that when we all come to the last Judgement that you don't go straight after Job, who lost everything he had, all of his family except his wife, and ended up covered with boils. He said "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." He suffered things that would have been a total nightmare to you and me, yet he continued to trust God. How do you think you will feel coming before God straight after Him, saying what you are now saying about His promises?

There is a reason for everything. Our Great Physician knows what He is doing, and He knows just how much we can take. He has promises that we will not be tested more than what we can bear. Look at the story of Joseph. I wonder if while he was down in that pit, and sold as a slave, and then falsely accused of rape, and then in prison - he started to have doubts about God's promises to him?

Or Elijah when he ran away from Jezebel in fear of his life, and believed that he was the only one left in Israel who feared the Lord. What did God say to him?

What about King David when he fled for his life from Saul, and then from Absalom? He was a man after God's own heart, and yet there were times he thought God had deserted him.

Also Jacob, fleeing from Esau, and then having to work for his relative for 14 years before he was able to marry the woman his heart was set upon.

This shows us that the Christian life is not all sweetness and light. It includes the realities of life. Life is not a pleasant experience for many, but they maintain their faith in God and wait patiently for Him until He comes to them again and blesses them.

"But ye have need of patience, that once having suffered a while..." Read the whole passage and see what the Bible says about it.

God does keep His Word. But there is doctrinal teaching that we surrender ourselves to the will and purpose of God, and not expect God to surrender Himself to our plans and purposes. The Scripture says in Proverbs that we can make our plans but it is the Lord who directs our steps.

We also have to remember that there is an enemy in this world who will do everything he can to try and frustrate God's plans and purposes. There is the experience of Daniel who prayed for a specific thing that God had promised, but it did not come straight away. After quite a period of time waiting on God, the angel visited him and told him that God had heard and answered his prayer the instant he prayed it, but there was a battle against the forces of darkness getting the answer to him. This shows us that God will hear our prayers right away, but the enemy and his forces will battle against the answer to our prayers coming to us. Therefore it is not always God's fault that our prayers are not answered in the time we think we need the answer to come. Many times there is a battle to be fought in the heavenlies before the answer can be released.

The Scripture says that God knows what we have need of before we even ask, so we are not believing in a God who does not know what we need, or is reluctant to supply those things. The Scripture also says that we have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places, and that we have been supplied with everything we require for life and godliness. Therefore the reason why we don't always receive those things on time is that the devil gets in the way and holds things up. It's like the stagecoach bringing the things to us is held up by the devil's gang of outlaws, and the shotgun guard of angels has to fight them off before being able to proceed.

In this world, there is always a battle between the spiritual forces of good and of evil. Only when Jesus comes again, will evil and sin be removed from us and we will have open and close fellowship with the Father. Then we will have everything we need. But for now, in this world, we have to fight the spiritual battles to obtain what God has promised for us. The Scripture says that "the kingdom of God allows violence, and the violent take it by force." This shows that we are in a spiritual warfare, and we need the armour of God and the sword of the Spirit to overcome the enemy's resistance to the good things that God promises to supply us. We need the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. We fight and win through the Word of God and faith.

The Scripture says that "the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and bringing every thought into obedience in Christ." Ephesians 6 lists our armour.

Therefore we are not going to receive the promises of God by sitting in our armchairs expecting God to serve them up to us as if He is our servant. We are to get out there, armed to the hilt with our spiritual weapons and to fight the powers of darkness. Revelation talks about being "overcomers, " overcoming the powers of darkness through the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. The word of our testimony is our confession that Jesus is supreme, and that God's Word is true. The Scripture also talks about the Word of God being alive and powerful, penetrating through any opposition like a hot knife through cheese. The Word of God in the mouths of His saints is the most powerful force in the universe. We have underestimated the power of our confession, and have under-used the Word of God in dealing with the opposition that comes against us.

The Scripture also says that when "we resist the devil, he will flee from us." We have to know our enemy, know what weapons and armour are available to us, how to use them, and then to get out there and win victories for Christ. We can go right into Satan's camp and have victory after victory.

The Christian life is a not a passive existence, waiting for the Great Santa Claus in the sky to give us everything we desire. Faith is a doing word. We have to do things that release the promises of God. A wise old pastor once said to us: "When the Spirit of God doesn't move me, I move the Spirit of God." That man was the most powerful preacher I have ever had the honour of sitting under.

I know what the verses say, but I don't know the references. I usually use my concordance for those. So, I will quote the verses that I know, and you can look them up in your concordance. If you don't have a concordance, you might need to buy one, because it is probably the most useful tool you will have for your Bible study. Alternatively, you might be able to find an equivalent on line.

The Lord said that if we have faith as a grain of mustard seed, we can say to that mountain, "be removed", and you will have what you say. I don't think that it is supposed to be a literal mountain, but the principle is there to show how powerful that sort of confession of faith is in the mouth of a person exercising faith.

The Scripture also says (somewhere), "concerning the work of My hands, command ye me."

"Those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits."

"Whatever we sow, that will we also reap." We have often interpreted that in a negative sense, but in the positive, if we sow words of faith, then we will reap what those words of faith will produce.

Jesus said, "The works that I do, you shall do also; even greater works, because I am going to the Father."

A man said to Jesus: "Speak the word only, and my servant will be healed." That is exactly what Jesus did, and the servant was immediately healed. They compared times, and it was shown that at the very same instant that Jesus said the word, that servant was healed, even though the sick man was miles away from where Jesus was.

Peter and John with the lame man in Acts 3: "Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give to you; In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." The obvious happened as a result.

Find all the Scriptures that talk about speaking the word of faith to a situation and seeing that situation change accordingly.

Often, when we pray and make a confession of faith, it is not to get God to do something He is reluctant to do, but to bring us to the place where we are spiritually prepared to receive the answer.

Oscarr it thinks the Lord wants you to seek Him on the matter of taking this gift to the next level. It will take some time of preparation and you must become able to be aware of the Lord entrusting things to you without experiencing pride or any other sort of flesh interference, but He can take you there, if you bes ready to make the journey. When you arrive you will be able to prophesy on a much deeper level, something that will involve (it believes) seeing into the will of God for others' lives and being an agent of seeding that will in a profoundly berashith fashion. do you understand this language? because Moriah feels uncomfortable spelling this out more concretely.

I just love the way you can explain things Oscar. I wish I had that gift.

Someone told DL Moody how blessed they were knowing that he had won so many people to Christ. He picked up a handful of dust and let it run through his fingers. He said, "This is me, other than what Jesus does through me." You can move beyond the wishing stage. Fellowship with Jesus through prayer and His Word and He will use you in the way that you are desiring.
