Hi, Everyone. I'm not a new Christian, but I've returned to the faith recently and I'm rebuilding my relationship with Christ.
Christian friends are hard to come by, I've noticed. I only have a few outside of my church, which consists of all 55+ members, with the exception of my fiance and myself.
Here's my issue. All of the young Christians with whom I share regular fellowship claim to "receive" directly from God. He tells them where to attend church, when and with whom to socialize, basically every aspect of their lives. He has lead them to certain websites and forbidden them from others... Things of this nature. All of this they contribute to being filled with the Holy Spirit and receiving His gist of prophecy. While I have nothing but respect for a personal relationship with God, this level of interaction I do not understand. The gift of discernment, an understanding of The Word, Active prayer... these I love.
The fact that they all receive in such a way and I do not makes me wonder whether I have truly been saved or not. I feel a close communion when I pray, and I'm filled with great peace, but there isn't someone constantly whispering in my ear, giving constant instruction. Am I lost? How common is it for people to receive the gift of prophecy? Does God speak directly to you?
