im reading numbers now and i am suddenly reading about the promised land...what is the promised land, and why is it so special?

Have you read Genesis yet? It's a good book, you should give it a read, it explains what the promised land is in there. Anyway, the promised land is the land promised to the Israelites by God. That land is approximately the same as Israel is today
