  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Tool?

First album is Alt Metal, second album is progressive metal and the third is like heavy progressive rock. I love Tool, and some of the lyrics are very interesting, but some of them are reeaally bad, lol.

They have a new Album later this year.

Yeah I get bored in some of their songs. But some are really interesting. I have heard though that their lyrics are not very christian at all.

Yeah I get bored in some of their songs but many are interesting ans some are quite good. The real problem I have with them is that their lyrics are not very Christian.

Some aren't very christian, no, lol. But some you can actually relate to as a christian, esspecially off Lateralus.

Maynard (singer/songwriter) has said that the lyrics aren't important to him, it's just his thoughts- most of their songs were written on coktail napkins! But find that a lot of their songs even boarderline on edifying.

Of course, it's all about Carey's drumming anyway.

Interesting. although most of the time I can't understand either what he is saying or what he is talking about anyways.

I just ran across this website. Prog fans, prepare to be shocked!

"History of Punk"
----------------
"Death to the Beatles"

Genesis, ELP, and Yes: When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth

Tommy, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, and Rick Wakeman

I'm speechless after reading this absolutely tasteless rant.

Meh... I've heard enough dismissals of prog-rock as "self-indulgent", "overblown" and "pretentious" that I'm not going to lose any sleep over reading this. Oh well, to each their own...

What's most hilarious perhaps in all this is that all of these rants conveniently neglect to mention punk elder statesman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) and his confessed love of Van der Graaf Generator... Kinda throws it all right back in their faces, doesn't it? :)

Has anyone heard of Porcupine Tree?
They've been around for a while, but they released a new cd in 2003 called "In Absentia."

I have heard one of their cds a while back. It was okay. I have not kept up with them though. Is their new Cd good?

I always find stuff like this hilarious:

Then suddenly it was over...1967 was a magical year we are told because an album came out that changed peoples lives. For some the greatest album of all time by the most influential group of all time that regularly tops readers charts.....yep that album was Velvet Underground and Nico. oh yeah another album came out Sgt Peppers ****** Hearts Club Band and music would never be the same coz all that's bad in music comes from ... The Beatles. We will explore their legacy in later parts but before we leave there's one other vital band we should mention as they contribute to the next phase with their sound.

I love both The Beatles and VU. I love both The Clash and King Crimson. I love both The Ramones and Jethro Tull. Despite what idiots like that want people to think, it's possible to like both "punk" rock and "progressive" rock. To me, they're both better referred to simply as "rock".

Yeah, I dig Porcupine Tree! I wasn't as fond of In Absentia as some of their previous material, but it did have some really cool moments. I think my favorite albums are Signify, the all-improvised Metanoia, and the Coma Divine live album.

ignorant eh?.im not talking about something i know nothing about.ive listened to prog rock.its terrible.
You have to give Prog Rock time. When I first listened to Yes, I thought it all sounded like noise. After listening to Close to Edge a couple of times, my ear began to realize the harmonies. Prog Rock is deep, it's not easy listening.
