They should close all of their stores as their terrible tasting french fries are an ongoing crime on consumers....
LOL
The burgers are very good! It is a good burger chain.I've only eaten there once, I didn't find it memorable one way or the other.. but it seems quite popular...
I don't know if In and Out is still family owned or not. At one time they were similar to Chic fil a as a Christian owned company. There are none close to me, mostly out west.I've only eaten there once, I didn't find it memorable one way or the other.. but it seems quite popular...
Despite the headlines, crime appears to have undergone a historic decline in the US during 2023. Violent crime and property crime both fell substantially, basically reversing the post-pandemic uptick in 2021/2022:
Crime in 2023: Murder Plummeted, Violent and Property Crime Likely Fell Nationally
These trends stand in sharp contrast with polling showing 3 in 4 Americans think crime rose this year.jasher.substack.com
What's interesting is that the PERCEPTION of the level of crime has gone the opposite direction. And that's a long term trend.
Despite crime rates having dropped overall by ~40% since 2000, about three quarters of Americans report they think there is more crime across the US this year than last, and about 55% think there's more crime in their general area. That's climbed from about 40% and 26%, respectively, reporting the same feeling in 2001.
What's most interesting to me is that the feeling of 'there's more crime now in the US than in the past' is strongest among inhabitants of rural areas/small towns and large cities areas - but these are also the areas where crime levels have declined the most in recent years.
It's also one of those cases where media consumption leads to faulty perception. People who report watching significant amounts of cabal news are more likely than the rest of the population to believe crime rates are increasing and that crime is a serious problem. The idea of 'If it bleeds, it leads' results in a problem - the boring reality is not being presented, because it just doesn't generate enough attention.
Nice supposition. You got any evidence at all for such a supposition? We really don't know how profitable the store was- it could just be an excuse to close a location that isn't really making money, to deflect from bad business practices (it happens all the time in big corporations, to try to screen investors from the reality of the business). The Daily Mail is known for circulating stories meant to inflame rather than inform. It's owned by Rupert Murdoch, after all.
Oh no, none of that happened. It was all poor business practices they are covering up. Haven't you heard?Apparently according to the article it's gotten bad right there where the store is:
Warnock wrote in a statement: 'Despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions, our Customers and Associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies.'
^^^ I can see why they are closing.
I agree. The FBI stats right now rely on reliable and accurate reporting. The reporting agencies have to collect and distribute the data. There is a large hole where agencies still aren't doing it or doing properly. Secondly agencies and cities have to determine how to code the crime. Are they calling it a theft instead of a robbery? Are they coding it as Disorderly conduct instead of Assault? In addition people have to report the crime. And we know that people are not reporting crimes because nothing is going to be done. They know that prosecutors aren't going to prosecute the crime. Or the police are too busy to investigate it. Agencies and cities are willing to fudge the numbers to make their cities look better. No there is too much going on with all of this to claim the report is accurate.Understanding the FBI’s 2021 Crime Data
Changes to the way the FBI reports national crime data may significantly complicate public understanding of recent crime trends.www.brennancenter.org
So the FBI went and changed how crime stats are collected...and hey, let's assume good faith reasons for that...not a desire to deceive the public.
We also have places like NYC that have reclassified former violent crimes and felonies as non-violent and misdemeanors. On top of that...you have woke DAs who simply choose not to prosecute.
Alvin Bragg's "Soft on Crime" policies face scrutiny as he goes after Trump
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is accused of being soft on crime. But he's no softie when it comes to investigating Donald Trump.www.newsweek.com
When 30% of your crimes aren't being prosecuted....there's downstream effects of that, like police not responding...and when that happens, people stop bothering to report crimes.
I wouldn't say that people's perceptions are off....I'd say that the Democratic Party is relieving their bladders on the public's head and telling them it's raining.

EXTRY! EXTRY! READ ALL ABOUT IT.
HERE IN THE GOOD OL USA A STORE CLOSED DUE TO CRIME.
FIRST TIME IN OUR GREAT HISTORY! TRUMP "SAYS GREATEST FAILURE IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY THROUGH ALL UNIVERSE AND TIME PORTALS; HEAVEN AND HELL ARE UNFOLDING IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY; ONCE GREAT COUNTRY"
EXTRY!
Nope it's cause you're racist.I don't know what's funny about this...
The left basically criticized the police nonstop for 6 years or so...inventing magical new issues with them like "systemic racism"....something totally provable, just take their word for it....
The footings started in 2020 by BLM have basically continued....new terms for new crime trends had to he invented....like "jugging" and "coordinated looting". They've made arrest a revolving door in cities that ended cash bail for many offenses.
Food deserts....a thing I used to make fun of the left for even believing in, are becoming a reality. It's not because of the reasons given by the left in the past like racism....but rather because of the rampant looting and violence towards employees who try to stop it.
You're correct that there's nothing special about 1 store closing because crime....but sadly, it's one of many across the nation. I know it's difficult to admit that the "movement" you supported was a sham...and they did nothing but harm to the communities it claimed to want to help....but perhaps it's a discussion worth having. After all, I recognized it was a sham...and never supported it...and not because I'm racist, but rather the obvious problems of it's goals, complaints, and values. I can at least impart the red flags I identified so that in the future...you can avoid the mistakes of the past and not be scammed by frauds in the future.
But I guess cause a white conservative says it it's only because we are racist.
There's a pattern in this where stores are closing due to crime, and the internet is full of videos of looting, smash and grab, holdups, muggings, car jackings and so on.
I think it's more likely that there's a whole lot of looting, smash and grab, holdups, muggings, carjackings and so on happening. That doesn't mean that such crime is representative of the nation as a whole, or even particular cities.
One thing the internet can do, is distort our perception of reality through selective presentation of events, distorting their salience or significance.
My brother-in-law in Corpus owns a driving school and he had two Kia cars stolen in a matter of weeks 2023 because of YouTube or TikTok video. He ended up buying a steering wheel lock for all his cars.I think it's more likely that there's a whole lot of looting, smash and grab, holdups, muggings, carjackings and so on happening.

What? There's even far more stores where clerks go to work and people shop... and that's all that happens. But you won't see people posting videos on Youtube or Tiktok.
What?
Explain yourself about your comments about the videos was that an underhanded way of criticizing my post? The crime rate is actually declining across the country, despite a few spectacular robberies by organized crime.
This comment reminded me of my brother-in-law. Also, I posted that just in case anyone here owns a Kia and is unaware of the situation. sheeshcarjackings

Crime nationwide is essentially an average and does not address crime in Oakland and other areas that have seen an uptick. Note that crime in Oakland was once low enough that In-N-Out put a store there, and now they're pulling out.
There are tons of shopping videos posted to Youtube and Tiktok.
