  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is anyone else here boycotting Procter and Gamble, because of the filth that they have supported in the past, and the things that they give money to now??????

If anyone is interested in what is going on with this go to http://www.pgboycott.com/will-grace.asp or www.afa.net

and if you want to find out what products that they produce go to www.pgboycott.com

Since this thread is in a boycotting mood, you might also have reason to stay away from Target stores. It seems they're denying all bellringers from the Salvation Army this season. Here's the scoop:

I heard this from my brother's girlfriend and she plans on staying away and so do I. I love how these stores love to promote how much they do for the community, but won't let the Salvation Army (or any non-profit org) do what it is they do to help the community. I also heard on the radio this morning that Walmart is limiting the # of hours that bell ringers can stand outside their doors. I'm not sure if that is nationwide or just NYS area.

Here's an article: http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=19479

If you want to contact Target, here's some info for you:

I just have to say something here.
I know Homosexuality is wrong in God's eyes. But this article is false in places and totally misleading.
If you wanna boycott proctor & Gamble then go ahead, no one is stopping you but do it for the right reasons.
Eric McCormack is not gay! He is a happily married man for the last 6 years to a woman named Janet Holden & has a 2 year old son named Finnigan (the kids name is weird, but no reason to blame Proctor & Gamble for that!). He is an Actor for goodness sakes. Here is the link to Eric's Bio: http://www.nbc.com/Will_&_Grace/bios/Eric_McCormack.html

Sean Hayes is the only openly Gay regular cast member on the show!

As for the Queer Eye show... That show is off the air isnt it?? Didnt last because it was ridiculous.
And Dr. Laura is not a selling point to me. She is very very harsh and does not show love toanyone who disagrees with her. She is a horrible woman in my opinion. Isnt she involved with that website "GodHatesF***" ??? Great example for christians to follow.
You may not agree with Gay lifestyle, but you know what, they are here and God told us to LOVE our Neighbors (Even the ones who sin!).
I do not agree with Gay marriage, I do not agree that the Gay lifestyle is something God intended, but I have many Gay friends who I love completely and I despise these kind of biased propaganda agendas!

When I was a kid the church wanted to boycott Proctor & Gamble for their logo, that didnt work. Now this???? If you boycott every sponsor of shows you dont like... you are going to have a tough time buying anything! Why not try turning the dial or using the remote instead??

I don't like Target anyways.

I will just go fulling to off market brands if I have to.

You know, a lady I work with told me she'll never shop at Target because "they don't support the troops." So I asked her what she's doing to support the troops and she just kindof stared blankly at me.

I see the point you're trying to make, but I give to the Salvation Army all the time. Therefore, if I want to boycott Target, I think I'll give it the go ahead.

I do not think the problem is if either of these actors or gay or not. It's what the show represents and what it puts out there. And it's not just the gay aspect of the show, it's even the hetero sex and innuendos that are being portrayed. It's just more garbage filling the airwaves and life in general. I agree with changing the channel and all for personal responsibility.

It's not whether or not we love our neighbors or do not like gays. One of my good friends while I was in the Marines--he was gay. He knew where I stood and we were okay on that. Just because you do not agree with what they're doing and the lifestyle they lead doesn't mean you have a hardened heart towards the situation.

FWIW, for me to boycott P&G, I'd have to read more about what's going on that on the basis of the email/link.

Good for you.

I don't think boycotting is going to do any good. Only 54% of P&G's revenue comes from hear in the US, and they're earnings have been going up steadily for awhile now. Boycotting (IMO) will have little to no effect on P&G. There's too many NASCAR fans that are loyal to their detergents, and the American public will forget the boycott next month when Downy goes on sale.

I hand-written letter would go much farther.

its not just "will and Grace" that they support.

They have dumped millions of dollarsr to legalize gay marriage/and,or unions into their home town.

If you read the entire report @ www.afa.net then you will get the point.

as for those T.V. shows, why do we support shows that bring lewd and vulgar shows into our homes when small childern can see them??? It is up to the parents, and adult to stand up and fight to get things back to the way that they should be.

The parents DO have the power to turn the TV off and hand that kid a football. It's easier and more effective, and doing this will help breed a more responsible race of humans.

But even if they lose a decent chunk of that 54%, that might wake the executives up, along with enough letters and phone calls so they know why they're losing money. I do agree that a LOT of people would need to boycott for it to be effective.

Absolutely. Too many parents use the TV as a babysitter. My family never owned a TV when I was a kid. I can't say I was deprived.

It'd have to be a pretty big boycott. I just don't think there's going to be enough push behind this to actually get people on board. I think hand-written letters to the CEO would be a more effective wake-up call (you'd be getting a PERSONs attention). But with America's attention span, I think the boycott would fizzle out within a month. Wal Mart would put the stuff on sale to move the inventory off their shelves, and P&G would still book revenue.

Right now, P&G is worth about $132 billion. Next largest company in their sector is Gillette at $45bill, then Colgate at a svelte $25B.

On PG's balance sheet, the company has $17 billion in assets, $5 billion of that is cash. Net income is $6.5 billion.

I think they're big enough to outlive this boycott. Are we really going to affect $6.5 billion dollars of income? I thin boycotting may make people feel better, it allows them to take a stand for what they believe in. If that's why they're doing it, more power to them. If they're under the impression this will be more than a bug hitting the PG windshield, well, I'd like to see how this whole thing shakes out.

Our children would be better served by being taught Christian values.

Turn the channel to "Off".

All in all, I'd say writing the company CEO would get more attention than a boycott.

Oh, for Pete's sake, how about turning off the tv? That's part of your "personal responsibility." However there enough mindless idiots out there will zone into just about anything and eat what the entertainment industry feeds them.

I say if you believe it to be wrong, then boycott. Will it make a huge difference, if any at all? Probably not. Yet, as TV stated, someone has to stand up and try to make a difference and get things back to the way they're suppose to be. Sitting on your duff, shrugging your shoulder stating, "Oh well," is pretty much the same as agreeing with what's going on, in my opinion.
