  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

K, does anybody have a handle on what procrastination really is or what's the source of it? Is it sin?

Is there a difference between procrastinating just certain things or if you're a general procrastinator regularly?
Is it wrong or what?

personally I think that as long as the important things get done appropriately and the less important eventually than you're ok. Of course, I like to procrastinate at times (for example - I really need to clean my carpet - but have been avoiding it for 3 weeks because I hate doing it) so my insight might not be the best or most sound.;)

Do I think it's a sin - no more or less than most of our other all too human behaviors.

I think there might be different kinds of procrastination.....one is just downright laziness, some are fear induced(afraid of making wrong decision, so no decison or action is followed)some, I think, people just forget....now wether this forgetfullness is subconcious, I don't know^_^

As a procrastinator myself, it is important to remember that sometimes procrastination isn't always bad. For instance, if the decision or action is something that must be pondered and/or prayed about. It's also not always bad to put off decisions or actions if one is emotionally upset as that may lead to making the wrong decision. I think it all revolves around whether one is being lazy (i.e. just don't WANT to do something). Or whether one is being thoughtful, or a delay is NEEDED in order to prevent unintended consequences.

I do want to say that sometimes the Lord makes us uneasy about certain decisions/situations because we may not be seeing things clearly and we may NEED to wait and perhaps delay the action or decision. Sometimes, this is God's way of getting our attention that we may be about to make a decision that leads us down a bad path... :)

I hope this makes sense. Ultimately you have to look at the situation and try to uncover the reason you are procrastinating, and be honest with yourself about it... :)

Very good idea for a thread! Thank you! :)
