problem with video card

I just needed a card to get me by untill i could afford a better one.
I purchased the gigabyte radion 9200.
128 ddr, 128 bit, 8 speed, dx9 compatable.

I am having conflict issues with my video game "command and conquer generals zero hour". This game requires dx8. The graghics are choppy most of the units i build are invisible but the back ground is good.

Is there a way to fix this conflict (my nvidea cards dont have this problem) I was planning on buying the saphire 9800 pro, or am i still going to have these problems? should i stick with the ge force 5600 or 5800?

First, make sure you get current drivers, as well as any card BIOS updates they may make.

Also, try playing with any detail settings that the game offers in its options/setup menus.

Ok if you had a geforce (nvidia) card before the ATI radeon then its mostly likely to be because you havent uninstalled the Nvidia drivers properly. Download something like detonator RIP.

If all else fails get the 9800 pro, its a very good card. The 5600 is terrible and the 5800 certainly isnt worth then money.

I checked and my drivers are all up to date. I also tried the game in different video display options through the game.This pc is only 1 week old and this is the only video card that i had installed on it untill i found that it wouldnt play with my card. msi k7n2 delta /sata hdd. corsair memory. The mobo chipset is nvidea though. I wandered if that is were the conflict comes in.

I have heard of a couple of other people with this problem running radeon. Though i heard the 9800 is great. I wont have the money though for a few weeks. I was wondering if it was just my card that was bad? And if i should send it back but it works so well with everything else!

Ill try getting ahold of ea games and see what they say!

Yeah it sounds like it must just be the game then mate. But believe me if you upgrade from the card to a 9800 PRO then you will notice a great increase in performance anyway
