I'm guessing there's a good reason for it. The FBI doesn't do this for no reason.
People have been
"swatted" before over more trivial matters.
I don't think the FBI is immune from making the same kinds of mistakes local law enforcement makes
But with regards to the context of this story:
The FACE violation charge was thrown out this summer, but was somehow picked up by the DOJ, she said. Houck also described an incident in which her husband “shoved” a pro-abortion man away from his 12-year-old son after the man entered “the son’s personal space” and refused to stop hurling “crude… inappropriate and disgusting” comments at the Houcks.
The man did not sustain any injuries, but did try to sue Houck.
On Friday morning, Houck’s rural home was raided by 25 to 30 armed FBI agents, who pounded on the door and yelled at the family to open it, his wife said.
So, a protestor went out... a counter-protestor started getting close to the first guy's 12 year old son...so he shoved him back away from him, no injuries recorded.
An FBI swat team responding with 25 armed agents and raiding a man's home over an event that was less eventful than most bar fights does seem just a tad excessive.
It's especially a bad look when they're executing a warrant on charges that were already thrown out a few months ago. Seems like there was a communication breakdown somewhere.
Of course, my statements above are only applicable *IF* what's being reported in this link is true. Yahoo aggregated the story, but the actual article was from
LifeSiteNews, which hasn't been known to be the most reputable news source, and always skews stories in favor of whoever the pro-life party was in a story, so it's quite possible that the account of "it only being a shove", and "the charge had already been thrown out" may not be true. And they may be misrepresenting the level to which he was interfering with access to the clinic via 'selective omission' of some of the details leading up to the initial altercation.
