My husband and i have many opposite sex friends from before we knew eachother that I would be very insulted if he asked me to ditch just because he felt insecure. I don't tell these men all my deepest feelings, but we do have conversations catching each other up on life or they will ask me for advice about the girl they have their eye on. I don't believe there is any harm in that.
One thing that may help is my husband and I both have all access to all of our socials- we can fingerprint in to eachothers phones, log in to Facebook's, read texts, whatever. Though we don't really do so (both of us have at some level while bored at some point though, and we are open about it) I think knowing at any time your spouse COULD intercept any message or photo sets a good standard for the things you say or do.
