My title quote is from S&S...hehe.
I love the song "My Father's Favorite", from the movie. It's played during the opening, and also played by Marianne during the movie. I actually went online and printed the sheet music so I could play it on my keyboard whenever I wanted. It's so sweet and sad and pretty!
You guys really like Colin Firth better as Mr Darcy? Eek...I find him utterly boring and unexpressive. I don't know the actor for Darcy in the new movie, but he is exxxxxxcellent, IMO. Much more broody and unhappy-looking, which only makes him HAWTTTT lol.
This 5-1/4" (13.3 cm) tall, hard vinyl action figure comes with a book (Pride & Prejudice) and a writing desk with removable quill pen!
If Jane Austen were alive today, she'd want you to buy this. Don't make her sad.
I know the scene, but what made your jaw drop??Ooh, I'm going to have to do that.I noticed that about your title the other day.
I really did not expect to like anyone better than Colin Firth. But when I saw MacFayden...wow. He was great in that role. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped during the once scene at Pemberly when Lizzie was meeting his sister. Does anyone else know what I am talking about?
That is hilarious.
One of the main reasons I enjoy Austen is because her writings were intended to expose the snobbery of the culture and to bring people back to the importance of marrying for love rather than money or status. She saw a problem, and writing novels about it was her way of bringing about change. Charles Dickens did the same thing when he exposed the truth of what was going on in many orphanages and schools in England during his time. Nicholas Nickleby was based on an actual school and its mistreatment of the boys there...after it was published that school was closed down.
BTW, for everyone that enjoys the Jane Austen movie adaptations, you should also watch Wives and Daughters if you can get your hands on it.
I'll volunteer for it as long as yer nice to me lol.I might attempt to watch it again.. this time I'll be ready with a couple of Red Bulls and a giant bowl of Skittles... but I can't watch it alone.. I'd need a woman interpreter lol

Just the way he was playing the part was stunning. At one point he gave her a look that was sooo...wow....I know the scene, but what made your jaw drop??
Have any of you seen "Becoming Jane" .. and if so, is it worth seeing?
You mean, when she runs out onto the steps and he follows her, and they have that short exchange? Oh yeah, you can see how tormented he is just looking at her...whew...:fans herself:Just the way he was playing the part was stunning. At one point he gave her a look that was sooo...wow....
I was wondering about that, too. It's on my list.

Or do you mean, when she comes back and actually meets Georgianna, and he's smiling at Lizzie...?
