Haha, that is funny because last week when I was at The Strokes concert my buddy commented to my about my chucks, he said "all of these hipsters here seem to have something written on the side of thier chucks, why don't you?". That evening when we arrived back at his apartment I took his black sharpie marker and wrote "hipster" on the side. Now I don't feel left out anymore.

Chuck Conner's All Stars- those canvas sneakers from circa 1960 that haven't really changed. Come in black, red or white traditionally. The uniform of the grunge era, but I guess it's come over to the new hipster era.

Hipsters - like beardless grunge fans, but they are in desperate need of a sandwhich.

Hipsters are those "cooler than thou" kids, fairly synonymous with "indie" (meaning independent).
The ones that started the ironic t-shirt and Buddy Holly/Rivers Cuomo glasses thing.
Cardigans, Chuck Taylors, strange hair, tight jeans, paisely, vintage, etc.
Listen to all those bands you've never heard.
Definitely high-brow, definitely elitist.
Coffee sippers.
Say "postmodern" a lot.
Everything is underground, and once people find out about it, it's no longer cool.

The Hipsters can't be any worse than this new trend of Emo kids that believe that the most un-emo bands are Emo. I know it's wrong but I constanly laugh at these kids when I see them at concerts. It's gotten so bad 17 magazine did a spread on "how to look Emo".
