• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

A man who has ocd tells God that he would only mean a promise, only if he validates it by doing the cross sign 3 times. After months, he had many compulsions because his ocd tricks him into thinking he may have done promises to God. He tries to do the compulsions but gets tired and in order to feel relieved, under frustration, he has some random thoughts in his head, probably without his will, that seem semi-intentional and are about promises to God and punishments if he breaks the promises. the thoughts are about not doing the tiring ocd compulsion. like fake promises caused by his organism to fight ocd compulsions.

One day, he had a compulsion to do the cross sign and pray outside from a church in neos kosmos. he did it and was trying to leave and ocd started bugging him to redo the compulsion. suddenly his organism popped up words in his head about promises to God not to return to that church again in neos kosmos or something like that. the motive behind these thoughts without his will, was to force himself not to return to that church in neos kosmos in order not to redo the tiring compulsion. So, with these random scary thoughts he feels relieved and free with the excuse that he may have made a promise to God, so he must not redo the compulsion.

He feels relieved but they are thoughts without his will that seem semi-intentional. and he cant remember exactly what these thoughts were. ocd tells him that he may semi-intentionally had these thoughts while he was doing the cross sign outside from church in neos kosmos, and since he told God months before that, that he would validate promises by doing the cross sign 3 times. what if the thoughts without his will that maybe were semi-intentional, popped up during the compulsion which was to do the cross sign outside from a church in neos kosmos? it may looked like as if he was validating the thoughts without his will about a promise.

Is the promise valid? his fear is making promises like this and he worries if he validated due to frustration. he was overanalyzing this if he made a promise or not and he saw a double coincidence happening. the first was that he heard on tv as he walked on in, a woman telling a story, do not know if fictional or not, that a woman asked from God to be turned on stone and He did it. that reminded the man with the ocd, his ocd fear about promises and punishments. he was writing this coincidence in reddit and was thinking stuff like "was that a coincidence or a sign?" and that moment, he heard his grandma saying to his father stuff like "they are signs. they cant be cleaned" she was speaking about an other subject but it was a scary coincidence.

The man cant remember if the thoughts without his will were semi-intentional or 100% without his will. he cant remember if they popped up while he was doing the compulsion of the cross sign outside from the church in neos kosmos or as he was walking. he cant remember how strong or vivid these thoughts were. he only remembers that after these thoughts, he said to himself that he should never return to that church in neos kosmos because of the thoughts that popped up. but what were exactly these thoughts? he cant remember. they probably were about punishments without his will? he cant remember. is the promise valid? was the coincidence only a coincdience? his ocd tells him that there maybe an other God who validates these ocd thoughts and maybe send signs to tell the man that his promise was valid and he maybe broke it because he passed from that church in neos kosmos by taxu, accidentally.
